I have a 1972 Buick GS 455 that I am doing a frame off resto. I bought the car solid with almost everything but the A/C box and compressor and all the goodies. I have been looking for a A/C box with evaporator for a while now but not much luck. I have found a couple but for astronomical prices. There are quite a few Chevelle and GTO A/C boxes I have come across and was wondering if they are a direct bolt on for the Buick? Anyone done this before??
I've got a Chevelle one. I think 69 on my 70 Skylark now. Nearly the same, however it will have screw holes drilled in it, diffrent from the Buick for various items. It will also be lacking a screw hole for one of your wiring harness clips i believe. this one is easy to know where it goes, but you may have to find the clip. I paid 50 bucks for both halves of the cover and evaporator at a swap meet. EDIT: I'm sure there are a few people on this board who have a setup they're parting out of another car. And Welcome to the board!.
The resistor is in different places on the box as well. I know a yard not to far from me where there are several in Skylarks. Feeel like taking a drive? Contact Carmantex on this site. He is in Texas. He must have a biunch as he is always taking stuff apart.
I have the whole set-up I took out of my 72. Everything from radiator to firewall in excellent shape. PM me if you want it. Second Post: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=179517
