My wife's mom is in poor health and very near the final days of her life. She is currently in and out of the hospital on a very regular basis and is there at this time. She has never been very much of a religious person but has recently shown an interest in learning about the Lord. We would greatly appreciate prayers for her comfort and guidance in accepting Jesus as her savior.
Prayers for your entire family at this time. Additional prayers for your mom in law that if she seeks comfort in these days she finds Him....
Thank you all for the prayers and positive thoughts. We took Helen home this morning and she is doing much better.
Prayer sent for your family John. Helen will receive additional help even if she passes too quickly from this life. 1. Peter 4:6 "For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 1. Peter 3:19-20 "By which also he went and preached unto the spirts in prison; Which sometimes were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah ........ Luke 23:42-43 "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise. These are places which she can receive the Lords continued help and preaching before entering his kingdom. Be of good cheer the best you can under these difficult circumstances.
Perhaps locate a pastor who knows and preaches God's word? and have him speak to her to answer her questions.... but not a pastor just looking for a check! hope this helps and informs? "Once read in its persecution-related context, 1 Peter 3:19-20 isn’t all that difficult to understand. There is no inkling of Christ visiting a mysterious Purgatory-like underworld. What Peter is saying is that Christ’s disciples should be bold because it forms part of the package of the Christian faith to be rejected and ostracized by the world at large. As Christ preached His Word through the mouth of Noah in Genesis, so He spoke powerfully through Peter to guide and uplift His afflicted church. And even to this very day, the Lord still desires to speak through His redeemed people so that many more sinners can come into the ark of salvation." The thief on the cross acknowledged Jesus prior to his death! This shows self effort isn't necessary to be saved! but by faith trusting /repenting in Christ is the power that saves
Agree with Gary's thought if the Minister, Vicar, Rabbi, Padre, sends you a bill he's probably less than sincere. John 21:17 "Jesus saith unto her (Mary), Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father: and to my God, and your God." Jesus said he had not been to his Father God in heaven yet. Where had he been for three days after being killed by the Romans? Maybe to Paradise with the thief like he said? Luke 23:42-43 "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in Paradise. That is why Peter taught this truth: 1. Peter 3:19-20 "By which also he (Jesus) went and preached unto the spirts in prison; Which sometimes were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah ........ 1. Peter 4:6 "For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Later that evening Jesus appeared to the Apostles and let them touch his flesh and bone body after ascending to God his Father. Luke 24:37 "But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. Luke 24:38 "And he said unto them, why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Luke 24:39 "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. That's what the Bible says.
