Another newbie with Q-JET that might need a rebuild. First question, car starts fine on choke ( a little miss I feel ) but after therm opens , stumbles then stalls. I'm still getting acquainted with car and besides basic T/U carb rebuild is direction I'm going in. Another issue with carb is fuel seeping by the plunger on top of carb. I'm been away from V8 carbs for a 15 or so yrs so what's the going rate for a good rebuild? Look forward to talking to you guys in the future! image.jpg image.jpg

Hi Rich. Let's see if we can help.
Looks like a 68 or 69 Buick Quadrajet. Can you confirm the code number and your engine?
If you are seeping fuel, your float is an issue.

There are a couple of good builders on here. I charge $225 for a stock spec build, and this involves a complete refresh, including all new parts, including jets, primary rods, float and much much more. Check out my website for details.

I woud put the accelerator pump rod in the first hole , or inner hole, the one on the left hole, the other hole .......Loose that diaphram on your accelerator ....

That code would be for a 72-80 Buick 350. What car do you have?

The Quadrajet code is on driver side toward the rear, above the secondary linkage. It runs vertical. Should be a 7028244 or 7029244.

68 skylark custom conv. The original owner has a touch of Alzheimer's so confirmation is problematic at best. Is there any way to get more specific based on the info I have, or where would there be more revealing #s on the block ?

It appears your engine has been replaced with a later year 350, but may have used parts from the correct 68 year. This Quadrajet looks to be correct for a 68 but I don't see a code? Some carb reman shops with grind off the code numbers so they can make them more generic and fit more vehicles.

Code should be here on the carb. Do you see any numbers?

Hey, It looks nice and clean in there, that is good.

And for the thread followers wondering about the problem Quadrajet. It was a 7029252 body, which is correct for 69 Oldsmobile Toronado 455. It also had two sets of upper idle bleeds, which is an issue. Basically, some mismatched parts were causing the Quadrajet problem here. All will be good soon though!!!
