I just got my ac back in and it was working fine, it was running just over 12 volts at idle, suddenly it droped to 8 and the ac fan went almost to nothing, so i turned everything off and it still stayed at 8, then it suddenly shot back up to 12 and everything was back to normal.. anyone have an idea what it could be?
You should see 13.5-14V DC from the charging circuit, at the battery. A load will draw it down a bit, yes, but that seems substantial. I would pull the battery & get it load tested. Be prepared to bring home a new battery.
Are you running original alternator and external regulator? Or have you upgraded to internal regulator? I think you may have a regulator issue if it is an old external type.
