Looking at a NOS dryer for a '69-'70 Skylark. The GM number differs for a '71-'72 piece, even though they look the same. It's a 71 piece I need.
Anyone know what the real differences are ?
    Will they interchange?

    Thanks,

Steve, Do not beleivc the listings. The 71 used the same long thin one used in 70. The 72 used the short fat one. The 72 GS used cross bars with a bend to clear the can. The 72 style would not fit on a 71 with straight cross bars.

    Dave,
This is the piece I'm looking at. Appears to be the longer thinner style vs. the '72 piece.

Steve, just order the one for a 70 at a parts store and you will be set. Your manual also went out this week.

What are they worth in your area?
    Just curious.
I bid on the E-bay auction up to $101.00 + lost it.

Also try Classic auto air, Old Air Products and the Parts Guy for NOS you may luck out.

    As long as it fits.
I was worried about needing one in a hurry next Summer & having to wait.
Haven't recharged the AC since the engine rebuild. Usually have the windows down when I'm driving anyway.
Need to get a vacuum control issue straightened out & then get the AC working again.
I have a vacuum leak in a line or diaphragm "somewhere"
I have every part/piece I'll ever need need in hand before I start.
Prime time to do this will be when the seats are out for the floor shift conversion.

    Dave,

Wouldn't the NOS unit have a sight glass on the top where the aftermarket replacement would not?

The $101.00 price tag might be justafiable if you are looking for an exact replacement.

The NOS pieces are going on E-Bay for $ 200 + up.
Seems one vendor has a bunch of them. Lists one at a time & lets the prices go up. Shrewd business man as he's selling everyone he lists.

I just got one from The Parts Place today and I don't see any differences when I matched it up with my original. Nice piece was very happy with it!!! $69.00 bucks Ron
