Don't forget that Carburetor and Timing issues can be very similar. Anytime i run into problems like these, I have a checklist I follow. Check fuel pressure at idle and at 2k RPMs Check Fuel Filter Check gas cap Check Timing, initial and total Clean Distibutor advance weights Make sure cap and rotor are in good order and secured Check plugs for fouling Check plug wires I've never ran into a miss at the top end, but tis checklist has solved off the line bogging issues a few times. Only twice I can think of where it didn't and I had to get into the carb. Good Luck
Also, if you have points, it's worth checking them over and adjusting your gap/ dwell. If you've got an extra coil, might be worth swapping it out and seeing if the problem goes away.
