Go yo a local store that sell dirt track race car stuff they have them. I think they are only 25 a set. That should be less than milling them I would think.

I know a few dirt racers down the road. I'll check with them. Maybe they know where to get them.

So my back wheels are exactly 10" wide. I need a tire that won't hang outside the wheel much. I did the math and a 255 tire will be exactly 10.039" wide, so I think that's what I'll test fit. Now for the correct side wall height...

a P255/50R-18 will be 28" tall. A P255/40R-18 will be 26" tall. I haven't looked to see if those sizes are even available.

Well, that goes hand in hand with your wheel choice:grin:

Yes it does. I got the wheels cheaper than one of those tires. :bglasses:

    Thats why.

I see 20''s and 22''s all the time for the same reason.

A $200 set of rims isnt nearly the deal they look to be when they need $1,000 tires to run them:Dou:

You're right, but it's the look and handling I'm after. Well worth it to me. If it was all original, things would be much different. :TU:

    I agree.

They do look good on there.

I found a used set of Falkens to match the front. Size is 255/55/18. The side wall is a little taller than I originally wanted, but I really like the look with a little more meat. They mounted fine with the 1" spacers, however, the clearance is pretty tight on the outside. My plan is having these milled down about a 1/4 in and that should wrap it up. See pics below.

Wheels look great. So are the rear wheels 18x9 or 18x10? I was looking at wheels for my 67 and was wondering how wide I could go in the rear.

Have you done anything to the wheel wells or is that all factory? Is your ride height stock?

I know I will need wheels and tires some time when it gets on the road again, and really have no ideas.

I do like how it looks.

Factory ride height. I have lots of room up front. May go with a hair taller when they need replaced. The inside of the back tires rubbed on the frame without the spacers. I used 1" spacers. That gave me plenty of clearance on the inside but was too close to the quarter panel. I thought about getting smaller spacers, but this is a budget build and I'd have to get longer wheel studs going that route. So I had a friend mill down the spacers a bit and so far so good. I haven't had it out on the highway so we'll see. Worst case scenario, I'll trim the quarter panel lip a bit.

I'm running 16 X 8 on my 67, 245/45 on the front and 275/50 on the rear, I could sneak a set of 9s on the back if I wanted. The front tires just rub slightly on the front on a tight turn on the outer edge. A 215 would have been a better fit. I had rebuilt the front end with all new bushings ball joints springs ect. and it rides and handles real nice. A big improvement over the 14X6 rallys and 215/60 tires.

Spirited cornering with lots of body roll will tell you what you want to know rather than a cruise down the highway. Find an empty parking lot and try some figure eights.

what offset/back spacing do you have on your wheels? I was thinking 16's or 17's for mine when the time comes.
