Dude.....GET YOUR FRIKKIN' CAR OUT OF THERE !!!!

Is he going to know you are coming to visit him ?? If so, Have him make a detailed invoice for the work performed TO DATE. Obviously, You, I, and the rest of the sane world do not think FloorBoards and rear quarters (YOU supplying the sheetmetal) is worth 4K !! What else could he POSSIBLY pad the invoice with ??

If its less than 4K - GRAB YOUR CAR AND RUN, then Sue his A$$ for delayment of contract and money HE OWES YOU

    .....but GET THE CAR !!!!

Take some time to think through all of the parts that might be at his shop. You want to do your best to get everything in 1 try. If you take 90% and he gets upset you'll never see the rest. He knows the high value items, grilles etc. Be sure you get it all in 1 go.

    Good luck

    Bruce,

I've done this twice now, you won't run into any problems picking up your own car, this type of person is lazy above all esle, trouble just makes work for him.

If he bothers you with "storage charges" take the car and just tell him to bill you, then ignore the bill. Your agreement will be as honorable in court as the one he told you about finishing it on time.

    Good luck!

Ditto. I have some experience with this. Do not let your car sit there. Give the shop no more than 10 percent slack from the original completion date quoted. Take your car and go!! :blast:

thank's to johnno teddy & sean,a couple of real massholes ....this bodymans Bitch came down to my shop and started a fight with me

QUOTE]The repoession of Wolverines car was meant for Hollywood! He get's me and these other two guys who are a little rough around the edges, hires a flatbed, and tells the bodyman he's coming to get his car. The bodyman agrees but that Kevin owes him 700.00 to be able to take the car. OK..8 pm Friday night all partys present. The Flatbed driver is loading the car on the truck when we get there...cool...right....now Teddy goes up to the flatbed truck driver and gives him a 100 dollar bill and informs him that there might be a problem so when we roll out of here to follow us to Wolverine's shop. OK...the driver is all set. Now while the bodyman is watching Kevin and myself load his hood and fenders and etc..etc...he's asking for the 700.00 bucks....here's where it gets good....Kevin informs the sleezeball that he actually owes him the 700.00 bucks for all the bulls#$t and sloppy work done to the car. The scumbag bodyman pulls a knife! After a little "pressure" from the "goons" (did I just call myself a goon?) the bodyman looses the knife and just wants Kevin one on one. So for the love of the GS Kevin took the bigger, stronger, and taller bodyman (Wolverine is not a big guy but has a screw or two loose up there which makes him a good scrapper) And introduces his face to a couple of open drawers of a Craftsman toolbox! After they roll around on the ground the bodyman pleas for the Wolverine to stop!! You should have seen how dirty that floor was and the two of them for that matter! Get this, the flatbed driver is watching all of this. So Teddy asks him if he's ready to go? "Yes Sir, I'll follow you guys" Too funny!!

Hope I don't have to "wrestle" the car away. Yeah, I feel the same way. The guy owes ME money for letting it go this long with the car "aging" in the elements. Dash and sport wheel were perfect 4 yrs ago. If it had been done in 6 mos like he said it would have been covered in my garage for the other 3 1/2 yrs!!! :blast:

Bruce, don't even consider leaving it. The guy is a liar and hs made so many empty promises before. What's one more empty promise?

Keep in mind, since you are in MD he's going to have a tough time giving you a lot of grief, and on the other hand, you are going to have a tough time if he gets wind of your intentions and locks up or hides the car. Take your car, and don't take no for an answer. How about showing up at 7 PM and taking it without any hassle?

I'd say in general, being in different states favors whoever is in possession of the car. It's going to be a PITA to do anything about the rest of the issues for either one of you.

    A Bad Problem Got Worse

First I hope posting this will not bother Bruce. We went down to the body shop and found his GS at the back of the parking lot with road gavel :af: on the hood, roof and trunk lid :af: . I did ask about this and the owner said it was from the snow blower :af: . We at first could not get the owner to nail down a final figure or "ball park" on the completion date or amount to finish the car. After that Bruce and I deceided it would be best to get the car out of there. Bruce had things in order to do just that until we found that water got in the engine :af: . We got the owner out to show him our findings. He got a big breaker bar and it would not move. Pulled a spark plug and it was rusted and water got into the crankcase as well. This car was started and ran 3 weeks ago according to the shop owner but the condition of the engine proved different. Now we have a bigger problem!!! The shop owner told Bruce he would pull and repair the engine and give him a completion date and a final figure to finsh the car. I hope the guy keeps to his word. AL.

I don't think so!!! Don't be the FOOL!!!

The best thing to do is take the car home now!!! :Smarty: Pull the engine and get a good shop to rebuild it and forward this loser the bill OR better idea, get an estimate for the complete engine overhaul and get a check from him for that amount and take the car. The way this guy is doing business with you, it will probably be a crappy job that will end up costing you more in the end. :spank: And don't give him anymore of your money. OTHERWISE you are the fool!!! :af:

I bet he gets a used engine and sticks it in there and hopes you don't notice.

Get your car now or face the fact that you may never see it again!!! :ball:
Or if you do it will be another 4 year and you pay him another $5,000-$10,000 for his mistakes. :blast:

Get your car man or you WILL regret it later. Take it to another shop, get an estimate and SUE THAT GUY FOR THE REPAIR MONEY. Damage caused to your car while in his hands is a legal matter as far as I'm concerned.

If you don't get it now with the little damage is has at the moment, you'll get it later with alot more damage. Time is a factor here.

    Body Shops

Ron you are great!!!  . I would like to make sure everybody knows I have not recommended this body shop or have had any work done by him. This guy did work under Heckerts Body shop then went on his own and now bought Heckert's Body Shop. I think Bruce is in a "catch 22"!!! :Do No: If he leaves the car there I will need to "baby sit" the car to make sure the shop owner does the right thing (For Bruce or any of my Buick Buddies I have no problem with :beer ). How the HELL did water get down the engine? Was it stored with the air cleaner off for 2 years? Did it sit with the hood open for a year? How in heaven's name did something like that happen??????

So he's had the car all this time......done nearly nothing to it........besides f*** up your engine.......and you're gonna give him another chance to screw you once more? You'd better get your car away from that bozo before it's no longer worth saving! Then sue him in court for everything including what he did to your motor! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! :spank:
