I just came from the junk yard in Fredonia, and they crushed all of the old stuff:ball: . I was there about 2 years ago and they still had rows of buicks. They cleared everthing old for late model junk.

  2. I'm afraid the local old car yard will do the same thing one of these days. They have lots of 60's full-size Buicks. But they can't sell squat because they want 2 arms, 1 leg, 1 kidney and your first born son AND daughter, for the stupidest little stuff. Not to mention a $35 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit just to walk in the gate!! You would think they would figure out the problem... NOT!

Why is it that all these yards would rather see these great cars rot to nothing or get crushed, rather than to sell the parts off for a fair price and make a few bu(i)cks?
I think it's finally time for me to pull out this guy--->

For several years, I had look for a legendary yard callled "Barney's Bone Yard." Located in western PA. I finaly found it, but could never find the owner. It was a stange sight. He lived in one of those real small old trailers with a wooden room addition. There was a wire running from the house to a shed in the rear. The shed had a generator, no other signs of electricity. We decided (I had an Olds buddy with me) to look around...... He had '30's Buicks mostly coupes and cars from 30's, 40's, 50's, and '60's. The only cars from the '70's were a GSX and and a Maverick. They said that you could smell the owner before you saw him and he was not to socialble. The last time I was there.... all was gone. Seems that he found himself a woman, cleaned his act up and called the crusher.:ball:

Oh my god!! not Fredonia! I started scrounging there in the early 1980's. Later as store manager of several Auto Works, Whitlock's, Western Auto, and finally Parts America I sent countless people there to find lost treasure. My word what has the world come to! Man what a bummer I feel like a member of the family died.

If you want to know where the old yards and the smaller ones are headed, ask your friendly "TREE HUGGER"!
Fuel & oil leak, we must protect the Dirt. You can't Burn, as it will pollute the air. "I don't like the site of "Junk cars" it infringes on "My Rites" Old tires are an eye sore, but we can't add them to Asphalt, because it would increase it's longevity, and put the Poor person out of work who patches the roads.
It doesn't matter if YOU lose the oppertunity get a needed part, go buy a NEW CAR, & pay the increased Taxes to those in need!
HEY TREE HUGGER, GET A LIFE!

I know how you all feel. I have a 65 Riv , and I think I'm the only person in Baton Rouge with one. I recently located a junkyard that has a well optioned 65 Riv that has not moved since 1985. The sheet metal is ok, but rain has destroyed the interior over the years. The glass is perfect, the chrome and trim are perfect, but the owner bit my head off for simply asking about it . He wants $1500 for it and will not part anything off it. Would not even let get close to it. It breaks my heart that this guy would rather let it rot than make a few dollars.
