Almost Unbelieveable

So, just after the first of the year we found that my wife had Stage 4 Breast Cancer, metastasized to bone. Well, we've gone through the surgery, the radiation and are going through the hormone treatments now. Her prognosis is about as good as can be under the circumstances. When all of this started six months ago I posted an appeal for prayers and was promptly rewarded beyond my imagination with the outpouring of sympathy, empathy and promised prayer. You cannot imagine my gratitude.

Back then, I wasn't sure how I would survive seeing my wife go through the treatment regimen. I believe with the power of prayer, I have come through the worst (so far) and am a bit stronger for it. My wife is doing so well; even the docs are surprised. For example, she received radiation treatment on her neck that really created some serious burns. The doctor said it might take three weeks or more for it to heal to a point where a shower wouldn't cause significant pain. Three weeks after the treatment, there was little evidence of the actual burn and zero pain at all. Her chest burns from the radiation healed as quickly. We are a month past the last treatment and the only evidence of the radiation treatment is that the specific area that was treated is tanned.

The purpose of this post is to come to you again with a request for prayers. Over the last three weeks, my father tells me his wife has breast cancer. Now, she has a LOT o other health problems such as COPD, emphysema, failing kidneys and many others. In addition to all of this, she is morbidly obese at just over 360 lbs. This causes her to be completely unable to lay down and continue to breathe. The surgery had to be done with A LOCAL! She is home now and doing better than my father expected and about like the docs expected.

Just two weeks ago, my son told me that his ex-wife, twenty-two years old, was told that she needed to get to the oncologist immediately to have a biopsy done to determine how far along she might be with cervical cancer. She was told about five years ago that she needed a biopsy for the same thing and for the same reasons but, since she was 17 and bullet-proof, she wasn't able to find the time to get it done. Here we are, five years later, and she was told not to wait any longer. GO DO IT! The health insurance for her new job kicks in July 1 and she has an appointment for the next day to start the whole process of firm diagnosis/treatment.

My prayer requests are, obviously, for the women in my father and son's lives to get the best care and results possible plus the strength to deal with it. I'd also like to ask to add both my father and my son to the list for the strength to go through this and be supportive and provide the strength the women will need from them. Your prayers and God's strength helped me through. I'd like for them to be ok on the other end, as am I.

Thanks in advance to all of you.

By the way, the 'Almost Unbelievable' part of this is that there are now three generations of us, my father, me and my son, dealing with cancer in the women we care most about.

In addition....you certainly have quite a Praise. Thank the Lord for answered prayers!!

Although it's unfortunate you both had to go thru this, it's wonderful that you've experienced just a bit of God's awesome power!! It's really something to see the hand of God at work.:TU:

    James 5:16 (King James Version)

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

    Jeremiah 33:3

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

BTW.....if you add your first name to your posts, it will make it easier and more personal to pray.

    Gary/All:

I suppose the worst part for me is feeling helpless to actually DO something to make this better or make it go away. I mean, most everything that has been an outside problem gets "the treatment" from me and usually goes away, sometimes crying, but it/he/she/whatever goes away. Doing what I can to "be there" for her and attend dr appts, treatments, etc. Playing chauffeur (sp?) helping with meds and all that is a help I know. Doesn't seem to be enough for me though.

In the mean time, we will keep plugging along, doing what we do and move forward.

Thanks, everyone, more than I can tell you for the prayers and good wishes.

    Phil
