this is my alternator off my `66,i was going to send it out to get it rebuilt cause the bearing was making noise, does this fan and pulley look correct?its one peice pulley and fan?i have an NOS Delco pulley and fan but looks nothing like this?any help appreciated.
Yea i`ve never seen anything like it either?maybe Calif.cars specifically had them??maybe a `66 expert can chime in here?
Sure it's original? Are you sure it is the original alternator? On a car of this age it has probably been replaced unless the car has relatively low miles (it looks very clean). What are the numbers stamped into the case, (it should have ID #, Amp rating, & date)? If it is not the original case, then it would probably be easier/cheaper just to buy another non-original part to replace it.
Gary,my `66 GS has original 40,000 miles on it,i have some documentation to prove it,the alternator #`s are 1100693. Thanks
Just another tidbit--I've never seen a factory fan that is black... They were originally galvanized (at least for 68-72...)
Date code? Is 1100693 the only numbers on the alt? There should also be an Amp rating and a date code. The most important piece of this puzzle would be the date code. The date may look something like 6B15, or 5L29. Is it there?
i`ll check to see if there are any other numbers or codes.the pulley/fan were painted by the previous owner black,i think the fan is suppost to be white cadmium plated. Thanks
George, the '66 service manual shows 1100691 for standard, and 1100709 for AC 400-401-425. But the parts book shows 1100629 and 1100633(AC) ou: I haven't seen the 1 piece fan/pulley on any of my '66's..... Do a Google search on 1100693.......It comes up as a  chevy number!
