I have a 1967 skylark with a 340 and i have been trying to find aluminum heads for it with no luck does anybody know where i can find some Scott
i have been told that the 300 heads are interchangable with 340 heads i dont know haw true this is but there are also some people hear that say thay have aliminum heads on there 300
Ya, but where can you buy a set of those in the US without having to import them from europe or australia? Dan
There is Buick 300 performance equipment that was made for the Rover automobiles in England. Also, I think some is/was available in Australia. I recall seeing a website last year with some exotic Rover 300 parts that were still being made. But, as mentioned above, it would not be cheap to get.
RE: alum heads on a 300 Yes, SOME 300's came from the factory with aluminum heads and intake. I think it was 65 maybe 66 and not 67. Btw, if anyone has any good printed material on stuff like this for 300 and 340 engines, send it my way, it would be great for our newsletter and the info has been requested by some members with 300 engines. Its not as easy to come by as 350/455 info. Dan
Just because things are in Australia doesn't mean they are not available. We import things from the States all the time. In fact most of us rely on it for our parts. Don't forget, you have people in Australia... Bill S. Adelaide, South Australia.
There is a LOT of stuff out there. It's not made of "unobtainium", but, "cantaffordite". Take a look at the big bore cast iron exhaust manifolds available from JE Engineering in the UK. Snuggle right up to a 300/340 right nice! Greg PS. Maybe somebody ought to write a book entitled "The Convoluted history of the Buick Small Block - 1961 - 2002." Including: OHC versions DOHC versions Diesel versions V6 Spinoffs - American - British - Australian Wouldn't that be interesting...
