I need to get the clear coat off of some aluminum trim so i can get it polished. I used some aircraft stripper but didnt work. any ideas? :Do No:

    Clear coat

Try easy off oven cleaner, I usually takes about 30 mins to 1 hr to work. I know it will take off adonizing on aluminium so it might work on clear coat.

Are you sure it's clear coat and not anodizing???
I found out the hard way when I worked out some dents in my '67 Fairlane GT headlight bezels, and polished them...polished aluminum does not look like anodized aluminum. Drats......
You might need to have the trim re-anodized.

I found out the hard way myself on the 67 Fairlane tailight surrounds. I started to lightly polish them on my buffer and it took off the adonizing. I ended up stripping the whole thing and polishing them to look like chrome. The guy I did them for was happy...but he has to keep them constantly polished without the adonizing on them.
