    Hi Guys!

Probably most of you know that Buick 215's and (1964) 300's are popular candidates for swapping into MGB's and other British sports cars. You may also know of "The British V8 Newsletter" for people who do these swaps... but it'll probably be news to nearly everyone here that all the old technical articles from The British V8 Newsletter are now being digitized and put into one great big FREE searchable online database!

I'm writing to invite you all to check them out! I expect some of you will particularly enjoy the color photography and perhaps even some of the information about Rover parts (many of which will bolt onto Buick 215's.)

Here's a link to the searchable archive: http://www.britishv8.org/British-V8-Back-Issues.htm

As you guessed Bob, that's one of my best resources. Curtis, who is the new editor of the British V8 Newsletter has been doing a fantastic job and is extremely web savvy. Some of the most knowledgeable builders around have contributed articles, heck I've even written one or two myself. There are a couple of forums frequented by this particular bunch of fanatics:
    http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=&mode=tlist&subject=36
which is the oldest such forum I'm aware of, and:
    http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/list.php?40
which seems to cater to a more varied crowd. Most of the Buick related work has to do with 215's and Rover engines, but there are at least 2 300's. Mine will probably be the first 340 swap unless somebody beats me to it. I was one of the early converters in this country (late 80's), probably had the first blown SBB in an MGB, and undoubtedly the first that was blown, intercooled and injected with EDIS ignition. So in a sense I've been leading the charge.

We only recently began seeing mention of the V8Buick forum, probably posted by Dan Jones, who gets around a good bit, but you can expect to see more of us as word gets around, and all of you are more than welcome to come over and participate on the MG sites. There is a lot of good information both places.

Thanks guys! - Something I forgot to mention in my original post is that "How It Was Done" articles about engine swaps have been the core of our newsletter since the beginning. I've just added another new one - a Lotus Elite with a Stroked Buick 215 (now 298cid)!

You might want to check out these articles too because we encourage our contributors to provide as many technical details and tips as possible. Here's the link to the Lotus article: http://www.britishv8.org/Other/RichardNorman.htm

As for my friend Jim... his car (and supercharger!) can be seen here... http://www.britishv8.org/MG/JimBlackwood.htm

If you're interested in tuning a MegaSquirt fuel injection system you might dig this very interesting article by the man himself: http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/TuningForTempControl.htm

There will be another feature article by Jim in our next newsletter issue (coming in April).

    ---

p.s. I'm actively recruiting writers! (Hint... Dan?)
