    That is interesting....

Just as a point of reference, using last year's data my setup would be 1.126 (ie, 625 rwhp at 555 CID).

I'm encouraged by that because usually you guys make me feel like "scum" :pp

The trick to these Pure Stockers is trying to make that amount of HP/CID through a dual plane intake and stock exhaust manifolds. A single plane intake and headers easily make the engine much more efficient. If you notice most of the players in the top ten have good intakes and decent exhaust manifolds.

Also a good point: I have a Dominator/Dart intake along with 2.25" primary tube headers flowing into 4" Flowmasters.

By comparison, that makes those Pure Stock numbers even more impressive!:TU:

Now I feel like scum again...

    AWESOME !!!

So not only is Sawruk's car cheatin' more than I ever THOUGHT of, but that 312 CHEATIN' Ford takes the cake.

I LOVE it when there's not one, but TWO cheatin' small blocks ahead of me..........

Lord: Just allow me the time and patience to build my next <cough> <cough> SB car...... :spank:

Not bad for a 300 horse motor with goofy ports, and a 350 CFM Teapot Holley!!
Now leave me alone, I got work to do, there's this red Studebaker.............

The original stats I posted were meant to be titled "normally aspirated". As we all know it is easier to get over 1HP per cubic inch with a super charger or turbo, especially if those superchargers have had some modern updates.......:bglasses: So I originally excluded the supercharged applications. If we include our Supercharged friends it shakes out like this:

    #1 1.197 Dave Dudek Hemi Cuda 426
    #2 1.176 Jim Keyes R/T 426
    #3 1.141 Jim Johnston Corvette 427
    #4 1.125 Mark Weymouth GTO Judge 400
    #5 1.110 George Krem Challenger 304.5 Supercharged
    #6 1.103 Frank Rice Custom 300 312 Supercharged
    #7 1.096 Rob Clary Yenko Camaro 427
    #8 1.080 Jeff Sawruk Custom S 350
    #9 1.077 Julie Pennington Corvette 427
    #10 1.073 Doug Chapkes Lark R2 289 Supercharged

Will somebody tell me where I can get some of them modern updates for my 50 year old McCullough. Please??
You forgot to mention my aftermarket Aluminum heads and the stroker crank!! I can't ever get bearings for the damn thing anymore.
I used to race Pontiacs, years ago, Did not like the Y's, thought the blower was a crutch, and it is. But, NHRA, NASCAR and USAC and IHRA all said they were OK. NHRA rated them at 340 hp before they instituted the ten year rule and outlawed the cars completely. I built it because I was curious to see if all the hype was based in reality, well maybe it was. It sure as heck pulls in High gear. Really surprised me how strong it is. Yeah I know, supercharged!!:Brow:
