As many of you may know,I am a Katrina survivor.

My house was ravaged during the storm, and I have had to overcome many hurdles since Katrina blew thru town.

I thought that I was finally over all of them, but a friend of mine came over to look at the house today and get an idea of what we are looking at in terms of getting me back in the house.

All went well until he asked me what percentage of my house had been declared damaged.I told him 59%.He informed me that the city was not allowing homes to be rebuilt that were damaged over 50%.They have to be demolished and a new house built.

That is not a problem for me,as I have never liked this house to begin with.I bought it because my wife and kids liked it.I like the property,3/4 of an acre in the middle of the city.IF i had known my wife was gonna leave after I bought it,I would have gotten a house in La that I liked, but she didn't.

Anyway, the problem I have is,even though I have received grant money,it will not be nearly enough to build a new house.I would definitely enjoy a new house as this one was built by a shoddy contractor, and everywhere you look, can find mistakes. It is just a piece of crap house.

I need prayers that if I do have to demolish it,God will supply me with a way to rebuild,be it money,or free labor, free materials, whatever. This is the second worst position I have ever been in,and although I know my Daddy loves me,I cannot see a way to accomplish what might need to be done without His divine intervention.

    Thanks y'all.

Verify that 50% rule before you take a wrecking ball to the place.

Maybe try looking for a company like this helps people save money building their own homes.

Some of the builders of factory-built homes will finish them only as far as the customer desires - usually a weather-tight shell with roughed-in room partions - and let the customer get sweat equity by finishing the build.

Among your friends, coworkers, neighbors, etc., there may be a lot of house building skills that could be bartered for.

And put that new house on pontoons!

    Kase,
He will always supply our need no matter how bad it really seems. It seems a lot of people didn't recognize Miss. in the Katrina storm. So much focus was on New Orleans which is a shame in what happened there also. Go to Phil. 4:13 and remember what it says. I always forget that. You will be provided for. Man I really feel for you in this situation. The Lords Will, will prevail in all of this. I pray that God will bless you in a special way. He is in control of all things no matter how bad things seem to us. Myself I am having a tough with that one right now. It's very hard to keep our focus on that and maybe we can help each other in that.
    May God bless you,
    Tim

    Thanks guys,I appreciate the prayers.

My friend went down to the city today and found that since my area is technically not in a flood zone, they will let me rebuild.God is good even when we don't deserve or understand why.

Tim,been wanting to ask,how is your situation going?
