I am in Ocala, and wondering if there are any good junk yards in the area that I can browse through. Anybody from around here that has a good line on some yards? Thanks, Jon
I wish! There's nothing left around here. The only one I know of that has some older stuff is a place in Deland http://maps.google.com/maps/place?h...c6fb8a722f,DeLand,+FL&cid=4382574892163793512 They have a bunch of older stuff, and its a u-pull. There is a 72 Skylark, and a 73 stage 1.. but both are pretty shelled out They have modern stuff too and a literal scrap yard where you can buy/sell scrap metal (I made an engine stand with pieces I bought there) The LKQ near corner of 417 and 50 sometimes has an older car or two.. I found a 72 Skylark there one day with an Olds 455 in it, but by the time I found it, it too was a shell. I took the GS hood though and planed to swap the scoops into a skylark hood. If you find something else be sure to let me know!
They no longer allow people in.. unless you pre-arrange a guided tour for a fee. Otherwise, you tell them what you want and they get it... Ive bought some things there and had them shipped to me and was happy. Including a set of dog-legs for a 66 olds. From the rocker panel up to 12" up around the rear wheel. I was very pleased, clean cuts, right on the marks I had emailed in a picture, rust free. well worth it.
Jon, When I went to school in G'ville, I used to hit some local yards....there were 3 about 10 miles east of Gainesville right off of University Ave....only one I can remember was Heart's and he was a jerk. The rest of them we hit were just south of Jax....my college buddy lived in Jax and he knew where 4-5 were and they were all u-pull-it yards back in the 80s. Let me know what you need.....I hit the local yards here every Friday.
Wayne ( Owner of old gold) goes north for the summer. wont be back until the end of Sept. Ive been there many times and he always lets me have free run of the yard. most of his stuff is really picked over.
Yes, been to old gold. Wayne is cool but his stuff is picked over. I want the car he has @ home in the garage. I had to Deland u pull it on amelia ave and All American Auto Salvage In Debary on Shell rd.
