Any value in the "General Lee" rims?

I found my first Chrager in the yard today, a 74 with the rims still on it. It had those 14 inch alloys that are on the "Lee", and they were in pretty good shape too. I took them off and wheeled them to the register, this wouldn't be so bad I thought, espcially since it's half price weekend. Well, I was in the "primo" section where things a re a bit more expensive than in the regular section, and they were alloys, so 91$ was what he wanted... On half price day.. I choked and put them in a stack next to the register.. Hmmm.. How much would they be worth do you think? They were in good shape with some minor curb rash on one or two. Only one had a plastic chrome center cap. It almost seemed like the rear ones were wider than the front ones, the tires sure were.

I remember seeing the General Lee wheels somewhere and they were very pricey. They are supposed to be very hard to find. I forget what they are actually called.. assuming the wheels you found are the real General Lee wheels, you could make some good coin off them. Some quick research on the web should net you the info you need.

Made it out there yesterday morning and of course the stack I had left them in was nowhere to be seen. I started looking around to see if someone had just moved them and I find one after the other, scattered over quite a large are. I never thought I would find the fourth one.. .. They're not the general lee rims, but some other version. Maybe someone will know what they are called? Since I had been through the hassle of coming back for them and then having to find them, I decided to take a chance and I got them. I believe they're some kind of alloy (no magnets stick) 14*7's They will be a bitch to mask for the painting, I'll just have to do one at a time. Hopefully I'll get my $$ back, but if you don't play you can't win right.

The General Lee wheels are American Vector mags. Aluminum in both 14" and 15" sizes. I have had a few sets go through my hands. Worth 500 and up for a set of 4 that have a minimum of curb rash. FYI they are not fun wheels to deal with. Balancing issues, porosity issues and you better retorque those lugs!

They also came on a lot of Dodge conversion vans in the late 1970s in the same bolt pattern as the charger, FYI.

I am not sure what the model name of your wheels are.

    good luck.

Your picture is of a set of turbine wheels which I think are made by American wheel although I am not for sure. Nontheless these were popular in the 70's and people would paint the webs to match their car color. I have a set that I bought for my 72 Vette in 73 and painted the webs Ontario Orange. I was a sport in those days. Just back from the 'Nam and an appretice electrician at $4.10 per hour. Long time ago. The wheels are no doubt worth more than you paid given the nostalgia wave. I may put the wheels back on the Orangebird and post a picture.
