last year just before all the Covid mess we bought a place at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. It was a spur of the moment purchase and we love it. Once you get a place at the lake you want toys lol. We picked up a used 20' hurricane deck boat and a used 48 volt golf cart. Both have been a lot of fun. Yesterday I was able to find what I believed was a good deal on some 2007 Sea-Doo's. I dont know much about them but I was advised to do a compression check and they checked out good. I wondered if anyone on the board is really educated on water craft.
Here's mines. Supercharged RXT with 215 hp, does 70 mph with me on it, smooth calm water on a cool day.
I have owned 6 different skis through the years along with a few handful of boats. Are those 2 strokes or 4 strokes. Do the compression test, the specs do move around depending on make and model. If 2 strokes make sure to find out if the oil injector is still working or if it has been converted to premix. Oil injectors that stop working cause big issues very very fast. 2 store skis become a pain.....they hold about 1 gal of oil and its good for about 3 tanks of fuel on average. Depending on how hard you run them you can drain a full tank of fuel in 3 or 4 hrs......at least our last Yamaha would, they were 3 cylinder 155hp......they would do almost 60 in flat water and I'm a big dude. But they can be done of fun, buy a pair not just 1, reverse really helps but they steer backwards in reverse.
Steering backwards triggered a memory....very important: keep in mind skis will not steer when the throttle is off. In a panic situation, no matter how dire the emergency , apply some throttle to steer out of a collision . I would recommend that all potential riders practice this first thing..
