Sometime it is really unfair how we on the board, and the internet in general, criticize the efforts of others. Not this time.
I should have known Impatient Creations had something to do with this car! They are our local high-dollar restoration and hot rod shop.
When I watched the video, there is a rendering at the 2:15 mark. That rendering actually looks pretty good. Unfortunately, they did not follow the correct body lines and it turned out looking more like a backyard hack job than a high dollar custom. They executed it and took it to completion, but it's an epic failure in my eyes.
On my screen, the YouTube video thumbnail shows that drawing. Anyway, here's the drawing in a bigger size:
HA, I was thinking the same thing! The only late model El Camino looking thing that looked decent was the Holden “UTE” from years ago.
That's exactly what the custom shop was after...Camaro and Holden's Ute shared the same Zeta platform, as did Chevy SS and Pontiac G8. Fond memories. I had design & release responsibility for new Camaro's fill pipe. That got me a couple of weeks working in Melbourne, lots of sightseeing with wifey, and a spirited ride at the Lang Lang Proving Grounds in a hot-rodded G8. Devon
What I find a bit scary is that almost all of the bed is behind the rear axle. If you put anything heavy in the bed, it could do some ugly things to the steering. Ya, I know, anyone who was silly enough to buy the thing is probably not going to use it as a truck - which begs the question "Why buy it"?
"anyone who was silly enough to buy the thing is probably not going to use it as a truck - which begs the question "Why buy it"? I thought the same thing about Chevy SSRs and Lincoln Blackwoods.
"I'd like a Camaro modified to look like an El Camino." "Okay, I'll have my ten-year old sketch something up."
