Anyone tried grafting on a set of GS scoops?

Just curious if anyone here has grafted on a set of 70-72 GS scoops to their skylark hood and liked the finished result? I think Ive come to realise that what attracted me to the GS in the 1st place years ago and what I really miss these days is/was looking out over those GS trademarks. Now Im considering putting them on my car, but dont want to goof it up. Ive got the scoop section from a donor hood and left @6" of spare metal on all sides for trimming, but before I actually start I thought it would be wise to get some opinions. Do you flange the hood itself, or the scoop section only, or both? Would it be better to use a bonding method or weld? Would stress cracks show up over time due to opening and closing hood? Just thought Id throw some ?s out and get it off my chest, thanks :Comp:

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

See the Ebay section. Someone in MI has a GS hood for $150.
I would check that out, much faster and easier to buy an original.

Otherwise, you would have to weld the scoops in and do some body work.
    Very tedious.

    George....

Carry does not have a GS, and a GS hood will not fit his car (look at his avatar). :Smarty:

Sooooooo, I guess you have some work to do Carry.

Carry, I have done this to a '75 Chevy Suburban hood(Jimmy C. do you have a pic. that could be posted?) about 10-12 years ago, if they are welded in and finished off correctly they will not crack, I am in the process of parting out that Suburban, so I cut the scoops back out and am planning on putting them in my other Suburban. they looked good in there, and recieved lots off attention. Good luck!
