anything special about an 83 T-type?

Discussion in 'V-8 Buick Powered Regals' started by GranSportSedan, Nov 26, 2005.

  1. I ran across a 83 regal t-type locally and was wondering if theres anything special about them as far as strength or desireability. i'd be converting to 455 power. the body is rock solid, car has bucket seat interior with a 200r4 trans. i found out that the rear is a weak 7.5 style.. car has a/c T-tops cruise, tilt. what do you do with the powermaster brake system when you go to naturaly aspirated? the guy wants no less than 2000.00 for the car..as far as i can tell there is no advantage with this car over a regular regal when converting to 455..any tips or input? no real advantage.cars more rare because its a t type but unless you really like the colors its the same.I dont see why you couldnt keep the powermaster if it has one,,ive have lots of gn and ttypes and regals.but all 84-87.And i dont know if there was a powermaster in 83--probably a hydroboost. It would be easy to changed it over to a vacuum set up if thats what you want---change petal, booster and master.and its changed--

thanks for the info.. it might be a hydro boost. the power steering pump is tied in with the brakes. Bob

You do not want to put a 455 in a t-top car unless you are going to put in a full cage.

If its tied in with the powersteering pump its a hydroboost.

powermaster wasn't until mid-85. If you go 455 brace the bejesus out of the frame and don't build anything to radical. (Body flex will be a huge problem) You definitely want to get the 8.5 rear out of a later turbo car and a TH400 would be a safer choice as well.

sounds like a hydra boost... that some sweet stuff to have if ya big block it. that way if ya put in a huge cam(like i did :Brow: ) you still have power brakes. vaccun would not be an issue. i would keep it. even if it leaks it is a valuable core. if you really don't like it... givie to me... i'll make it disapear :Brow:
