Apologies To All

I was told this weekend that my Challenger T/A was in a Mopar magazine as a featured article. So I picked it up yesterday and read the article. To say I was DISGUSTED is far to light for my feelings.

They shot the car two years ago at the Mopar Nationals. They never did anything with the shoot so I figured it was dead. I knew they interviewed the guys at Imagine Motor Sports/Aloha Automotive after the race last year on the car but again nothing happened. So I was surprised to find it had gone to print.

The issue is that the article came off arrogant at best in my view. As they did not interview me for this I did not get to influence its direction.

They roundly beat the pulp out of us Pure Stockers. Saying something to the piont of "...it did not escape Mark's attention that most of those Pure Stock cars were hardly restored to current show car standards. Mark wanted to prove a piont." Now that may sell magazines but is patently untrue. The obvious piont being if they had attended the race they would have seen that more restored/great cars show up to the race than your average National car show from my view. And most of my cars I have raced through the years were not show cars in there own right.

Secondly they piped off on my Hemi Challenger being this or that. The record is one Concours show and win not "...that's won just about every concours award one could possibly aim for". It won at the Mopar Nats two weeks ago as only its second judged showing ever. It is not as expressed, and again sounded awful the way it read, and incorrect on the facts.

Lastly they kind of gave small block Mustangs, Camaro's and A body Mopar's a back handed compliment.

All this in one four page spread. It was kind and generous that they included one of my cars in there otherwise top notch publication. It just kept me up last night, worried sick and disgussted in how the group I most identify with was roundy beaten about the head and shoulders.

So I am asking for all to understand that this is not my feelings and would never have been my intentions to have such a pretentious article written. I feel graced in this life to have such good friends to race with and have been fortunate enough to own a few special cars at the same time. There should be no pretentions in such a wonderful situation as I have been blessed with.

I profusely apologize to any and all that may have read this article. My copy of the magazine is going into the garbage and I will write a letter to the editor addressing these items, that hopefully will be printed. I do not want to be associated with such a portrail as was represented.

    Thank you for your time.

    Best regards,

    Mark Weymouth

No mine came out of WI. The previous owner had it from 1972 till I got it in '02. It was done as a magazine car back in the early '90's in what we would now call a Pro Touring car syle. It was bathed in silver paint everywhere imaginable. I can not remember what mag. I have the article and it was one of the Hot Rod/Car Craft/Pop. Hotrodding trio that did it.

It is currently back to Plum Crazy and poverty caps as it should be.

And here I am thinking Thats just a typical E-Body attitude! :spank:

Mark, they made a toy out of my car back in the fall of 2002 and NEVER told me. :Do No:

Thats just the way it works now a days.

Just kidding about the E-Body remark, from a run of the mill 340 A-Body. :blast:

    Mark,

For those that know you, the notion that you are a pretentious snob couldn't be farther from the truth. If folks knew all of the cars that you and your brother had in your collection, they would wet themselves. Yet, you don't jam it in peoples' faces. To me, having a car featured in a magazine is the ultimate flattery. The fact that you had a bad experience really sucks. If it were me, I'd write them a concise, well thought out "response" stating your disappointment. And if that doesn't work, I've got an '86 Dodge plow truck that I want to scrap. We could go dump it in their front office and take pictures of Dave H on the hood with a thong on.

    Funny you should say that.

What do you think, the white or the black? Oh, how silly of me, I'll buy them both. :bglasses:

I subscribe to the magazine and have every issue of theirs, but sometimes their integrity leaves something to be desired.

Just understand where they're coming from and you'll understand why they do the things they do. This is not the first time they've gotten something wrong or been ignorant.

    Many Thanks

Thanks to all of you for the kind support. Fortunately I have met many fine people during the years of racing. Hence my disappiontment in the article. My fellow racers mean far more to me than any accolade that could come from an article.

As I am not easily offended and was offended for my fellow racers that told me that this was a poor representation of myself, and the cars (people) that race the Pure Stocks.

Dave I vote that you only wear the black thong at the races. Sweat, white and lots of hair seems a bit to strong of a statement for our race. Maybe Gonzo would allow white thongs at his race?

Thanks again everyone. Especially Casey for the kind words, I assumed you would have some good fun with this one. I was set up like a wack a mole for you.

    Best regards,

    Mark

    Stroker Boy?

Somehow I am oddly interested in this outfit. I do forsee Casey getting a bit excited and trying to get you to his trialer for a closed door conversation if you wear these. Something about STROKER BOY... :eek2:

Look out Beniot, Dave is after the coveted cardboard, although he is looking to acquire it in a rather odd fashion.

Dave it maybe easier to just cheat your motor if you want the "sign that has been since the beginning of time" or whatever Brian called it.
