This morning i got my new Rochester in slapped it on, it works good intill i stomp on it from a dead stop, it bogs out an the car shuts off. Any one knows if the air an gas mixture screws are preset. The carb does very well on the highway.

My idle is at about 750 to 800. 69 Riviera no electric pump i have a manual on block. I thought that this problem was in the distributor so i advanced it an retard it still nothing.

To slow throttle closing in order to avoid stalling. Put the word dashpot in the search function.

You will have to adjust your idle mix and speed screws for your application.

If your bogging issue is due to the secondary air valves opening too quickly, you either have a defective primary vacuum diaphragm, or the air valve spring is set with insufficient tension, or both.

I just answered the same question in the PM you sent, so here's the answer again.

Use a spring strong enough to guarantee throttle closure that doesn't wear your ankle out. Don't go too light, you don't want to risk the throttle sticking open.
