Ted, I think your Wildcats are the coolest. I've seen you post photos of your work on the forum for awhile now, and it always looks top-notch. Not sure if it's going to be done this summer, but it's going to be close.

WildBill, this car wouldn't even be possible without some of the pieces I've bought from you! Thanks for "Seal!" See above on car completion. If the car isn't done by summer, my goal is to have it finished over the following winter and be ready to make the GS Nats, BCA Nats, etc. in 09.

Mike, the redlines are F70-14 Firestones from Coker. I have the stock 65 chrome wheels, but they really need to be rechromed and I don't know anyone out there to do it. There was a guy listed in the GS X-TRA last year, but I don't know who it is. How's the wagon coming?

Bill Bailey, I want to see pics posted when you get the upload figured out. The wheel opening mouldings, and decent rocker mouldings, are tough to come by.

Pat! Just caught your post. I will definately be driving it come spring. I'll need to get it broken in and work out any snafus. If your ever in the midwest, you have a place to stay!
I'll post a few more pics around the holidays, I'll have a little time off to get some things done.

Had the chance to see it last month when I dropped off all the wiring harness for Mark.
It is really SWEEEEEET! Mark you are doing a real nice job. It's come a long way from the first time I saw it. It still had the vinyl roof on, remember?

    Loren,

How could I forget!! I remember walking through the Montgomery Wards lot at the Midway when that used to be the hot cruise spot, and I spotted your 65 GS freshly body-off restored. Same color too. That was the start of the whole thing - it was 1991! I attached a pic of it the day I picked it up.

Thanks for the complements and many thanks for all the help+advice+parts you've provided to me along the way. The harnesses turned out beautiful.

Holy jumping jackfish Mark.:eek2: Your car back then looked exactly like mine. Same color scheme, right down to the black vinyl top. In fact, I had to double check my garage to make sure mine was still there.

    Tom,

Now you know why I've had that photo of your car from a 1997 musclecar calendar on my shop wall for the past ten years!

Now I remember you saying that previously. :TU: :beer I wish it still looked that good. :Dou: :error:

I guess I should start a plan for mine soon, before I blow my money on wine women and song.

    Jake,
Negative - those are the original manifolds.

    Tom,
I saw the pictures you posted of your car a few weeks back. It doesn't look bad at all to me. It's that time of year - make the plan and get started!

Hello Mark. Your engine looks great. I`ve got a 65 GS 4Speed as well. We have just removed the timing cover and everything else needed to do it. The cover is in rough shape and has even been welded. Looks as though a water pump pulley had come loose and gouged the hell out of the cover. The welding looks as though it can cause a restriction in the coolant flow. Maybe this is why the car has run hot since I have owned it. About 7 years. We have tried EVERYTHING. I have a good used cover that we will be putting on in a couple of days. Where did you get the fuel filter? Looks like it fits the bracket properly. Any I have had are too small.
Any opinions on the cooling problem and the filter? mrbuick65@rogers.com
    Thanks, John

    John,

Thanks for the compliments. Before I started taking the car apart, I never had cooling problems with it. It ate a water pump on the way to Bonneville in 91, but after replacing it, no issues. When I disassembled the engine, my cover had a small hole in the water passage near where the cover bolts to the block on one side. I had that welded, but the rest of the cover was in good shape. It's a fairly common problem. I did buy a Brassworks Flowcooler water pump during the rebuild, but no experience with it yet. I've heard good and bad about them.

The fuel filter is a GF-94 - still available from GM. I think they were 4 or 5 bucks ea.

Is your car red? A friend of mine was living in Brockville for a couple of years, and he talked with someone with a red (black top?) 65 GS 4 speed car several times at the Brockville show. If it is, I have a bunch of pics of it!
    Very nice looking car too.

Mark. Strange enough mine is red with a black vinyl top too . I`ve had it since 99 and it was white at that time. Brockville is about 250 miles east and I have never been there with this car. Knowing how rare these cars are especailly with a 4 speed it is actually quite close. I would be interested in seeing the pics. Thanks for that filter #. I`ll order one in a couple of days.

    John,

That is a weird coincidence. I'll forward the pics I have of the other red car to you this week. I think he's a member of this forum too.

Sure looks like a great car you are building. I would like to see it sometime.

I work at the Lockheed Martin plant in Eagan not far from you.

Not many 4 speed cars like your left and they sure are fun to drive.

    Kevin,

You're welcome to look at it anytime. I'm only a few minutes from Lockheed Martin. I'd like to see your car as well - 65 and 66 GS cars are few and far between around here.
