Just wanted to start by saying Congrats to John Schmidt for running his best pass at atco 7.83 Also john thanks for the help on sunday and for the borrowing of the part. It meant a lot to me. It was a good turnout for buicks for a change and saw some good passes. It was nice to see everyone again before the long winter. I could not believe the weather 83 degrees. I had a dusting of snow last week where I live. This weather is crazy. Hopefully someone took some pictures and will post. (larry) I know there is a bunch of pics on turbobuick.com if any interest. John Jr
Had a great time at Atco last weekend. We went to race some Mustangs but the track did not line up Buicks against Fords. I guess they just id not care. Ran my best MPH of 139.92 and almost my best ET. 9.55. I was 3 hundreths from a new Stage 1 record!! Weather was to warm for that to happen.I know Doug Hecker wanted his 8 sec ET also. He was 3 hundreths away from that with a 9.02. Anyone with pictures from Atco please post or let me know, Rob
I just knew on Saturday when it was that hot that I wasn't gonna get an eight second run either day. Saturday I went 9.10 and 9.05. Sunday I went 9.02, 9.03, 9.09(spun), and 9.06. I've gotta say though, I'm thrilled to be running that fast and that consistent. I'm not through trying for that elusive eight, but I'm having a great time in the meantime. :TU: Next up for me is to get over to Stage1 Auto to pull the driver's side cylinder head this week and bring it down to PeeGee Scotty to fix it. (two bent valves) Ran pretty damn strong considering it's gotta be down on horsepower! I'd say it was a pretty good weekend, aside from the bizarre weather. Hopefully it'll cool off around here and we can run in some real Fall weather!
englishtown on nov. 23 final test and tune will be there with ttype and the skylark. already going with 5 other guys and i am sure i can get doug to go and try again for the 8. Sorry you didnt get it yet.
Thanks, John Jr. Yes, I did manage my best ET @ 7.83. The MPH was 181.79. My best MPH has been 182.5. I think I hurt the motor. Not sure what yet, but it really started missing badly the last pass. Good thing I redlighted (-.010):af: Rob Chilenski showed me how to do that. I think it is time to put the little red car into hibernation. Wanted to take it to Farmington, NC in three weeks, but it doesn't look good. Oh well, headed to Reynolds, GA on Thursday with the GN and the scooter.
Hey John, maybe it was that boost over 35# that hurt that little V6. I seem to remember you saying the needle was pointing at the O in"boost". That is after the 35# limit on gauge right? As for the red light, all I can say is next year you and me 1st round for some money maybe?A little side bet...... LET ME KNOW, Rob:grin:
Hey Rob: Did you say HEADS UP ? OOPS, I forgot, you BB guys prefer bracket racing.:boring: Wait a minute, I have a BB. Bracket racing is fun.  We'll do this. First "RED LIGHT losses.
Rob and Doug! Cecil this Sunday.....cool and high barometer, plus good traction. 9.40s for Rob and easy 8s for Doug. I'm looking for some 10.0s or better esp. if I shift the 1-2 manually at 6700 rather than 5500 automatically! Bruce
Good luck guys! I hope the bite is there. Last time I was there (Buick-Mustang race) I spun just about every time but somehow managed to win the whole thing! No time run due to filling my whole motor up with fuel due to a stuck needle and seat! Some time ya get lucky! Bruce 10.20 on the brakes at MIR last week Man would I like to see a 9.99, street legal, hydraulic cam, 3700lbs!
I'm a little surprised you had traction problem at Atco. I've always gotten great hook there with each of my cars. Maybe the problem was YOU! I've always felt that I can hook on MARBLES at Atco. My car will do wheelies on ICE, so I can't usually complain about traction. Englishtown, on the other hand, is usually a disgrace. No reason for it either, since NHRA gets that track in good enough shape that the pros set records almost every year at the national event. Good Luck at Cecil.
Yup, just too much power and too little tire. Regular race day at ATCO is probably better traction than a "special event" like the Buick-Mustang race. Cecil is much better than it used to be....traction wise. I hear that they may turn the track around so the noise blows toward 95 instead of toward the houses. Developers complaining.:blast: Have a good one. Bruce
There's a few pictures on www.godragracing.com. I saw at least one picture of my GS, John's Opel and Cotton's turbo car, but mainly mustangs. It was a gorgeous day and I felt the track was really good. This was my first time out there and I had my best short time there of 1.448.
Regarding the Cecil county turning the track around. That would ruin the best track around. It almost always has a tailwind there. Also what better track has downhill staging lanes? You dont even have to start your car until the water box!! Letsa just hope that was a rumer and leave Cecil County Raceway alone>ou:
I know Rob! Also during the day you'd be looking right into the sun! Also, they said that the downhill staging would help slow the cars down as it will be the end of the shut down. According to the person I spoke to (who works there) they have purchased the house (cool house to live in, tree house, too) and property next to the starting line to facilitate this. Nothing is definate he added....... Bruce
Step 1 - Got the head off the other night at Stage1. Step 2 - Got the head down to Scotty tonight. He fixed it in about 15 minutes. :TU: Will update here on Sat.
Step 3 Bring head to Rob at Stage1 and make him get it all togeather by Sunday morning!!! No matter how long if takesou: Thanks alot Doug, Your my Hero!!!:moonu:
No.....Step 3 - Brought the head and the car to Rob this morning (I'm posting from Stage1) and we are less than an hour from firing this beast up. Stop complaining! You LOVE working on my racecar!
