I have a 1967 GS 400 that is an automatic, and I was thinking about converting it to a 4 speed. What are all the parts that I would need to get?
Are the parts unique for the year? I was thinking about using a muncie m-21 tranny, is this a good choice? Lastly, is it even worth trying to convert it to manual, how difficult is the conversion? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hollowpoint,
This has been asked many times, so I won't go into detail but yeah, you should do it! If that's what you want by all means go for it. But it's not that cheap to do "right" nor is it that easy. It would depend on how fat your wallet is and how good you are. There may or may not be some welding/cutting/fabrication involved but it can be done!! Do a search and you'll find complete parts needed lists! Good Luck :TU:

I am sure not an expert on your year but the 3 speed trans that year were Ford (BW) and I think the 4 speeds were too. They used a round non Hurst shifter with a set of fingers for the reverse lock out. If my memory serves me correct they did not use a Muncie that year.

It is going to take more parts, time and money than you think. See the parts list here

I got 3 spd. setup from a junkyard from some GM car, the hardest part of parts is the ballcrank that moves the throout brg. They make good hydrolic sets now would be the way ta go. That setup is going into a 72 soon.
