What is involved in putting in a new automatic choke on a stock 2 barrel rochester carb.; is it easy to do? Could I get one at an autozone or parts place like that? When I cold start my engine it runs high and does not kick down unless I give the throttle a little "stab". And it seems to get harder and harder to kick it down as time goes on, and everyone I have asked says it is the choke, and I can't really think what else it could be? Just got the car back from the shop, and runs like a top w/ the exception of getting the motor to idle down. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance! :Comp: :TU:

cody im not sure just whitck carb you have but if it is like mine on a 65 300 itisa srap to replace or adjust is your on the carb or in the manifold? either way they are both easy BUT are you sure that is the problem be fore you do anything take some wd40 and soak all the linkage on both sides of the carb wait one day and see if that helps///then try to adjust it if that fails then replace it /////my 2 cents pete

Thanks!! :) If im not mistaken, im pretty sure that the carb. that's on the car is a rochester(factory) 2 barrel carb., and the choke is on the carb. I will take your suggestion into consideration. It's not in my plans to keep the motor and therefore the carb will go wherever the motor goes once I can get my hands on a 350 buick motor, but since im making it into a daily driver/resto project, I at least want it to operate properly since everything else is at the moment. Once again, thanks for replying. Any other suggestions/info. or advice from anyone will be greatly appreciated! :TU:

As previously posted on another thread, be sure that the heated air to the choke coil is previously heated by the air cleaner. Also be sure that the linkage is not sticking, including the choke blade, which has caused its share of problems. Let's start with the basics. Ray
