Anybody know where I can buy a choke thermostat and rod complete with stove for 455 Buick engine with quqadrajet from 73 model? The stock intake had a heat sink and the thermosdtat sat down in the intake. It now has Edelbrock performer intake

There is a Chevy thermostatic choke that fits the Performer, but I do not know the original application. It does not have a rod, so you have to make your own. I think it has been posted on the board somewhere before...

These #s came from edelbrock. I had called them many years ago.I never did locate them.

George Thanks for the comeback My problem is all the stock Chevy thermostats move the wrong way when warmed.. The 73 buick intake manifold that came with my engine had the thermostat down in a heat sink in the intake manifold. It had its own cover built on it and it was held on with three bolts. Now the problem is I need one to pull down instead of pushing up. The original one does. I'll take some pictures and post Thanks again

Well George thats what I get for talking before I check the thread. So far the thermostats I've checked had the loop for the rod down at the bottom.. Obviously the one you show has it further up. Thanks again thats just what I need.

I am confused...is this the same carb as was on the '73's manifold? If so, why does the choke need to move in the opposite direction now?

My engine's a '73 and had the dual divorced choke Qjet. I can easily picture the setup you're referring to- but I can't imagine why the carb needs the rod pulled in the opposite direction now

    Choke Thermostat

Chris The thermostat that was on the stock manifold will not work on the edelbrock manifold. It requires a thermostat that sets on top of the manifold not in it like the origdinal. The Chevy one works fine I just didn"t want to use any foreign parts Bernie Steffen
