And I was able to score 2 for two cents. Yup, you heard right, a penny a piece. Part number is M-203. Get down to your nearest one ASAP because the manager said that they are just going to throw them away if they can't sell them.

This is not a joke. I bought a fuel filter and 2 of the last of the Mobil 1 oil filters they had and paid three bucks with tax.

Is it just Autozone or Mobil that is discontinuing the filters, which are one of the best along with the K&N? Great score anyways for a penny each for what was a $10. filter!
Ever notice many guys will skimp when it comes to oiling their Buicks? You can do a search and the Mobil 1 and the K&N stood head and shoulders above the rest and for $10-$12. that is worth it to me.
Once one of the best, Fram, has one of the lowest scores among all of the filters out there. I guess selling cheaply made filters by the hundred of thousands to the Walmarts and K-marts was more of a money maker for them. Now they are a $2.39 filter that blows seals or worse! Where is the savings in that? Mobil 1 or K&N for me!

I asked the manager the same question and he couldn't tell me. I forgot to add that they are also discontinuing the AC Delco oil filter for the Nailhead as well.

I'm hitting the Autozone on the other side of town later today to see if I can find a few more. And the manager told me last night to come back today because they are discontinuing a lot more stuff and he just needs to go through it all to see what it is.

Just came back from there. Already sent them back to Mobil :Dou: . Said maybe Mobil will sell them. If the future is any indication, they'll be crushed :(

BTW that's also what the 455's use.

Went to local auto zone and ask manager. They have discontinued this filter but are suppose to smash them with a hammer and throw them in the dumpster. They didn't have any anyway but said managers are NOT suppose to be doing this, ebay'ers get 'em and sell them. If you know a manager you might get one for a penny but most stores won't do this.

I stopped in my local Auto Zone and all of the M1-203 filters are gone. Computer says "not available".

I looked on the Mobil 1 web page and they no longer list this filter number. So I guess that means they will not be available anywhere.

I just tried two stores near me and they both said that as far as they know the ones they had were all destroyed about a week ago! Now what?

If that's true, wouldn't we be able to find the same deal at other big box auto parts stores?

Advance still has it listed on their website but I'll stop by there tomorrow and see what the deal is and let everyone know.

Searched three stores this morning, second one had two. I went to the cashier and asked her to ring them up see what the price was, I saw 0.01 on the screen and she was confused. I said right away that it was right, I went to hand her a dollar and she said its on the house. :TU: Gonna search a couple more autozones around the area. VERY NICE! Thanks for the tips.:TU:

This board is awesome! I'm gonna' go make my '08 contribution after this!

I stopped at three stores on my way in to work this morning. Second store had three left - I now own them. Same "deer in the headlights" look from the clerk as mentioned by others. I told him - "They're discontinued." AND to top it all off, .03 is too low to charge sales tax on!

Note to members: I thought I was going to be able to do a favor to a board member in need by buying these. BUT, I checked the cross reference and these filters fit nearly ALL Buick V-8's and V-6's in the '64-'68 years - including my '67 Skylark, and who knows what other cars. I can't believe Mobil would drop off a pretty big chunk of customers by discontinuing this filter.

    Happy hunting all!

... better hurry, I was told that all stores were told to remove them last week and send them back, so it looks like Auto Zone is not just going to sell off the filters from the stores. I got 2 from one store (out of 5 that I stopped in to check them out and the others had already pulled all of them).

I'm wondering what Checker / Kragen & Advance are doing? :idea2:

I know our cars are getting old, but that filter has so many applications I'm a bit surprised.
The last time I bought a NAPA Gold (FIL 1258) filter, I had to have the counter guy order it from the warehouse.
I went ahead and bought all 3 the local NAPA warehouse had at the time.

    furiousgoat Sold goat, bought Buick!

My local Auto Zone did not have any in stock. So I stopped in at Advanced Auto Parts. They didn't have any in stock but had 13 of them in the warehouse. They could not clarify whether or not the filter was being discontinued, so they would sell them at the regular $9.88 + tax price.

This would be the same filter used for all Pontiac V8 applications also.

Scored one more today. I don't know what's better, the deal or the look of amazement from the cashier. :Do No:
