Am I wrong, or is that Olds the first pre-68 (non-Vette) musclecar to bring $100K? I remember a 1967 427 Cyclone that might have brought more.... o No:
He sold it ( as usual against my advice) and someone else took it to BJ and let's say made a lot of money. John is feeling a little flabergasted right now. As for a record neither of us remember a public sale ( Not private) of an Olds for more. Before this the 70 -71 Olds were clearly in the lead insofar as price. Similarly, no one I know can identified a public sale of a GSX for even 50K. Mark will break that statistic I suspect especially if he gets on during TV time but it looks like he may just miss it. If you notices #460, a w 32 red convert., went for 98K. Buicklawyer's blue formeer W32 covert. goes on the block at BJ Friday. It is a better looking car than the red one. It may set another record.
It seems like white cars usually don't seem to bring the big money. With the Corvettes it sure makes a big difference if it's black or a bright color compared to white.
Yep, Black/Red combo cars seem to be doing very well this year. The '58 Bonneville last night was sure a sharp car! :TU:
My dad had a Black/Red 1957 Olds (first V-8 car I ever drove....without his permission I might add), so I've always had a soft spot for those Black/Red cars...
