In the process of rebuilding a 1976 model QJet with Hot Air Choke I broke off the corner of the base plate where the mounting screw is located. Can I find another base plate from any similar year QJet and make it work or do I need a Buick specific? I am trying to swap the 2bbl to a 4bbl on my 350 to just drive until a new engine is built. The ID number on the rear drivers side of the base plat is 52090. Also, if anyone has one they'd like to get rid of I would greatly appreciate it.
Most of the later style baseplates will interchange. They will have different linkage, number of vacuum ports, type of vacuum (Manifold/Ported) available, PCV, power brakes, 1/8 NPT or 1/4 NPT for the rear port, amount and location of idle bypass air, etc. The best deal is to match one up exactly if replacing it, or modify the donor if/as needed.....Cliff
Most likely we would have one in spare parts, but would need the donor part to match it up exactly......Cliff http://www.cliffshighperformance.com/
take the base plate off the carb and the broken off tab and take it to a good welder and tig it back on.... that is what I did with my holley... bought it busted for cheap and fixed it.. works like a champ....:Brow::Brow:
Cliff, I just sent you a PM Doc, I actually thought about having it welded but the broken piece of the base/throttle body is close enough to the "butterflies" that I was afraid to take a chance.
