What precisely is minimum throttle, part-throttle, and WOT?

Will tightening the modulator screw will allow my min and part-throttle shift points to occur at a higher speed? I feel like 1-2 occurs too early and the 2-3 shift requires me to step on the pedal harder than I should have to.

Will lighter governor weights allow my WOT shift points to shift at a high speed?

With a mild engine and TH350 I would generally want higher shift points, correct?

Do you have recommendations for a torque converter?

I am replacing my rear main seal and was considering a new torque converter.
I feel like my engine is stressing my trans because I have leaks from the various o-rings and possibly even the torque convertor.

Minimum throttle is barely stepping on the gas the minimum amount to make the car accelerate. Part throttle is self explanatory, and WOT throttle is Wide Open Throttle, your foot on the floor. You should be able to determine your minimum throttle shift points. Find a deserted piece of road or a big empty parking lot. Use minimum throttle to barely keep the car accelerating and note the shift points in MPH. Be patient and wait for the minimum shift point. It will depend on your rear axle ratio. Cars with numerically low axles will shift at the higher end of the range. Cars with higher numerical gearing will shift at the lower end of the range. 1-2 should occur at 9-12 MPH, and 2-3 should be 20-30 MPH. The modulator adjustment will only cover 2-5 MPH at minimum throttle. The governor weights will mainly affect WOT shift points but if the governor is sticking or the weights are way off, it can affect the minimum and part throttle shift points as well. Do some testing and report back. Give us MPH shift points for minimum throttle and RPM at WOT shift points as well as the rear gear you are running.

Torque converter choice depends on the cam and engine combination. A stock converter may be the best choice for a mild engine.

I am away from my shop for the next few days, but off the top of my head my 2-3 shifting can be around 40-50 mph which I find really odd.

This would most likely be min or part-throttle. I am nervous to mash on the pedal until a proper diagnosis.

Just before the 2-3 shift there is a period where the RPMs climb gradually, but the speed isn't increasing and I feel the trans wanting to shift. I then have to apply more pressure for it to get over this hiccup, and its business as usual. This makes me suspect something may be wrong with the torque convertor. Hence the leaks

I would look at the governor.
