I have a Die Hard part #65-2 that has 850 cold cranking amps. What is the best battery tender/maintainer to use with this battery? I went to purchase one and noticed they come in different amperage. I want to make sure I purchase the correct one.
I have probably 5 Shumacher (sold as a NAPA part number) and have some batteries over 10 years old. Big believer. Keep them on 24-7. 800 M.A. it turns off when fully charged and senses when it needs to be turned back on when the battery discharges over time from just sitting. Mid twenty’s dollars. Sometimes on sale for less. So it cycles the battery…
Napa sells great Maintainers for $35 and less. Also a Tender/ Charger/ Maintainer are all different, to use on a Parked car/ storage get a MAINTAINER.
I've been using Battery Minder for over 10 years. It has a float mode and it sends a frequency to the battery that helps desulfate. The slower you charge a battery the better. I do most of my charging at 2 amps, but one of my Battery Minders also has 6 and 8 amp modes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3151203175...fReJeX0o4X62yCdMWOOAJpAJIj|tkp:Bk9SR47it6-zYw
The M.A. stands for mini amp…so Les than 1 amp…there is no choice in amp on this one. Plug and leave it. We have others where you can change the amp to more, different types such as a AGM, etc. but the 800M.A. Is probably the best for regular no mat filled acid. Even my small engine batteries last 7-12 years. This cheaper one only works on acid batteries though
Amazon.com: Battery Tender 021-0123 Junior 12V, 0.75A Battery Charger and Maintainer, Black/Green (021-0123) : Automotive This is what I use. I have 5 or 6. I keep them on the cars/truck/mower.
between the terms tender and maintainer they do exactly the same thing. Get with your reps that sell their product and ask. It’s a marketing term. Automatic chargers won’t turn on if the battery is completely dead. There is a difference between those though, don’t think they will turn on and off automatically to cycle the battery. Once on always on and always charges at a higher amp. There is a way to make an automatic charger to turn on, on a completely dead celled battery though by tricking it. Ask and I shall tell. The companies were forced to do this because of government regulations to protect ignorant people
Battery Tender Junior is what I have. Currently Walmart has the best price, but I've seen them on sale for less than $30. They will not charge a dead battery - you must charge them up first using a regular charger.
I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Save...0&psc=1&mcid=ce72a79066803da0847f51cc379dc80f It was originally made by a company that I did business with (like 25 years ago). Mine is still here and still working perfectly.
I bought a Napa brand 1amp maintainer for 20$ recommended by a solid guy that works there. Got it while I replaced my 9 year old optima made in Mexico battery that couldn’t hold a charge with a made in USA AGM Napa brand 34: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BAT9834 https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_HFMC1A?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google&campaign=GSC-Paint-Body-Equipment&campaign_id=10947560788&adgroup_id=110533803034&adtype=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-cuE7KzAhAMV2gKtBh0riQmfEAQYASABEgINFPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1
