    Parts required besides the tank:

    1. Mounting bolts
    2. Patton Glade tank pad
    3. New sender
    4. New sender wire harness

    It's also a good time to paint the bottom of the trunk floor too.

    The Spectra tanks I have used fit PERFECT.

    Paul, good luck with your project and hope you find the "magic paper'!

    Stage 2, I used the GM34L on my California emissions 455 car and it matched the original tank including correct nipples for all the hoses. I did have to take a spare 70 neck and install as it did not come with one. $125 from rockauto.

    Thanks Tom! Good luck with the sale of your 74 Apollo GSX Stage 2 race car. Someone will get an awesome Buick!

    I ordered the GM34Q from Rock Auto and tried to change the order and hour later when I realized that was the wrong#. I wanted to revise my order to a GM34B, but Rock Auto said even though it was less than 90 minutes later, my order had already shipped! Now I'll return it and repurchase the correct 34B. It's a good thing I have some FedEx stock in my 401k!

    I thought maybe since all GM34 tanks are the same except for the neck that I could purchase a neck from Spectre Premium and they responded:

    "The filler neck on the GM34Q is longer than the GM34B filler neck.
    GM34B = 11 7/8
    GM34Q = 14 5/16
    Sorry, the filler neck is not available separately."

    I hope this helps someone else from repeating my mistake.

    Happy Ending!!!! I just got my official shipping notice from Rock Auto and they were able to flag and change my order and ship a 34B. Rock Auto "rocks"! Paul

    Let us know when it gets there if the neck looks right. I will be buying one very shortly. Thanks, JL

    Update: Got it today via UPS in great condition. Less than 48 hours after ordering. The GM34B looks to be a perfect match and it even included a new sending unit o ring and sealing ring. The only problem now is everything else under my car will look crappy compared to this clean new tank :) Paul

    Paul : Could you tell us how this GM34B fits once you get the other one out?

    The Spectra tanks are made here in Canada and went to local auto parts dealer. His catalog shows the GM34Q as the tank for 1970 GS455 for replacement?

    Then I see in other post Rich Johns says the GM34T is correct fitting?

    I am ready to order this week and just wish to get the correct tank first time. As I too have very bad luck.....if had some good once would be nice.

    Thanx Dave

    P.S Dropped my tank Friday night and was strike out on the build sheet. See bad luck reference above.

    I put in the tank today and the 34B fits perfectly... that's the good news. The bad news is no build sheet :( I have the Wayne Roberts docs and some interior tags, but it would have been nice to find a build sheet.

    Reinstalling the tank was fairly easy even with my 3" exhaust. I could not though get those sheet metal screws that go into the straps in the rear to go all the way in. Does anyone have any tips on how to do that. They are partially in and not loose so I don't think it's a huge problem.

    My only main issue with the tank swap is now my wife asked what do I do with the old tank???
