'71 GS 350 Using BFG 255/60/15's all around, on factory Rally wheels. What air pressure would you recommend? Thanks
With tires cold....start 8psi below what the tire manufacturer suggests as maximum inflation. See how it rides and if you like it. So if MAX inflation is 44lbs, set tire pressure at 36lbs. You probably already know this, but expect about 2-3psi increase when the tire warms up from driving. Buick recommended inflations are for comfort as well as for bias ply tires back in the day. So in the interest of wear, tear, and increased fuel mileage, I'd stay closer to the tire manufacturers amount.
Max pressure listed on these tires sidewall is 35PSI. Following your instructions, I would start at 23PSI, cold? Sounds pretty low, no? Thanks
30-32 psi also: if you have smooth nice roads go max if you have rough crappy roads like here in Chicago maybe even 28
x2. You really just want full tread contact with the road surface. Drive the car around enough to warm the tires, wet a spot on your driveway, drive the car through it and look at the contact patch. If the pattern is even all the way across, you're good to go. If it's too narrow, go with less pressure. If it's light in the center you need more pressure.
85-90% of the maximum tire pressure listed on the tire. For 35 max tires, 30-32 psi is correct. My Coopers are 44 psi tires. I run them at 38 psi. The Yokahamas on my Riv are 51 psi tires, I run them at 43psi.
