I have the climate control switch temperature lever binding half way and gets stuck. I’m trying to find where it needs to be greased to fix that issue. If anyone has experienced this before, please let me know the fix.

    Anyone at all?

Sadly I do not. BUT I know it's cable activated and I would oil the point where the lever connects to the cable as a first step. My next step would be to use graphite along the cable (should be in a sheath).

I will look into that and give it a try. Thanks.

Did you try it? My slider is "sticky" and I have to (at some point) look into that. I would love to know if you find out that greasing it worked, or if you just end up finding a replacement. I'll post an update if I get around to fixing it.

AC or non AC? That’s important for this question. Factory used white lithium grease on the levers but that may not be the problem. If it’s a non AC car the blue tabed cable might be broken. Right Brett? Here are pictures of how the cable breaks.

The fix is like this. Wrap a metal cable clamp around it and put the screw black in. It’s some work to get at it but if that’s what it is lube won’t help. AC cars are a different animal.

I'm all too familiar with this design flaw.

I tried taking it off, holding the cable vertical, using PB blaster, thin oil, kroil, etc at the "top" trying to get it to soak down into the sheath. Worked the cable in and out while doing this for several weeks and flipping it as well. Nothing worked. Unfortunately, you cannot remove the cable from the sheath. I ended up replacing it. There may be other reasons it is binding as mentioned above so you need to inspect everything from the lever to the control to see if something broke or kinked. And, as mentioned, you need to determine if it is a cable problem.

Dave's fix works and seems to be the only viable solution to this lousy design.

Aside from it being tedious, you're pulling out the dash, cluster and glove box for the best access. Lots of going backwards before moving forward.

Set aside a whole day and quite a few obscenities when tackling this project. Ask me how I know....

Dropping steering column helps for access as well.

Mine is an AC car, I lubed the sheath with superlube oil like Michael mentioned. There's still something binding it. Its frustrating.

Here is a quick video of what needs to happen when you move the top lever of non ac heater unit. A lot happens. Lower lever only moves the single red cable. That rarely breaks.

    How did you do this?

Before you put it back together, repair the damaged blue wire. It looks like it may have been pinched between something.
