I picked up some wheels to try on my 70 I got them fairly reasonable so if I dont keep them I wont be out anything.
    fronts are 18x8 rims with 235 40 zr 18
    backs are 20x10 rims with 275 40 zr 20
I have a set of lowering spring waiting to be installed to give the car some rake that I will be installing no matter what wheels I keep .
Right now there is in my opinion to much fender height on the front tires but once its dropped 1 1/2" it will sit about the same on the wheel as the back. Heres some pics so what do you guys think?

For some reason it makes it look like an Oldsmobile...Doesn't matter what others think, the question of the day is....What do you think about them?

    I like it.

I do see a slight resemblence to some of the Olds I see done up. I think it's just because more people go with that style on a Cutlass instead of the Skylark.

I like the Skylark even if it was up on blocks!
    Looks pretty good to me!

lower about an inch in the back and an inch and half in front and you are there. Will the backs tuck up into the wheelwell?

I normaly do not like big rims and tires, but those look nice.

I kind of see the Old's look but I wasn't thinking that till I read it.

I wouldn't change the height at all, I like the way it looks right now.

But that's my thought, the only thought that counts is what do you think it looks like, if you like it keep it, if not get rid of them.

It looks nice right now though. :TU:

How does it look like an Olds :Do No: Looks good but will look even better when you get the stance right.

They look great. I hope to put some on when Im finished doing my 4 door 1972 Skylark
I figure a 1" drop would be good enough with all the potholes I have to encounter.
I think I'll try 20x10 in the rear and 19x9 in the front.

Not a big fan of the 20's, but "on whole" I like how your car looks. I really like how "neat" your exhaust tips look too.

Roy were those on there when you were at the Enumclaw show? I'm not a big wheel fan either but I think those would look OK after its dropped a little.
Funny thing about all the cars showing up with big wheel though. The wheels on my car are starting to look too small.:Dou:

Excatly what I was thinking Chris, gotta check the clearance more on the back. Might have to order a set of back springs now.

No Bob I put them on Tuesday ,Just for a change
Iam not always that big of a large wheel fan ,If I bought new wheels I was probaly going to go with 17 or 18 inch but the same size on all four corners I just hadnt decided what wheel to buy. I came across these and figured what the heck for now wanted a change from 15 inch rallys. I think I would prefer 18 all the way around but wanted to see any one else thought they looked ok.
Funny thing you mentioned Oldsmobile they came off a 72 cutlass, The guys third different set hes tried and didnt like.

Thanks to everyone else for your opinions

Be careful about lowering the front too much. If the car has headers they will have a tendency to hit the pavement under full spring compression because they are usually under the gig line.

Wheels are raceline, I had never heard of them before

Backspacing the best I can measure while they are on the car is 4.5" front wheels and 6" back wheels

How does the height in the rear work.. 28" is a tall tire but looks really good on your ride... // // going over large bumps any hitting in the rear wheel wells?

Dan I was concerned about the height before I put them on and it doesn't seem to be a issue, Now Ive only driven about 30 miles since installing them and no one ever rides in my back seat. That being said even though they fill up the wheel well I think if it gets to it I can even safely lower the rear a inch and still be fine.
