64 cat... I'm haveing brake problems and I think i've got it traced to the booster. Power drums all 4 corners. The brake pedal has very little travel then gets hard. (when running)

Next... where can I get a booster? I have found one, 180 bucks, and Carquest only goes back to 1967. Next... does a 1967 buick wildcat use the same booster as a 64?

    Thanks guys

  2. 1967 was a year of the 11 inch booster, our cars use a 9 inch booster.

I purchased a booster from Advance Auto. I know both Advance and AutoZone carry a booster, but you may not have them in your area.

This is never a part either store has in stock, it always has to be special ordered in. I've gotten quite patient dealing with these old cars. :)

If you have a hard pedal and know you don't have a line/hose problem, and you have plenty of fluid without trash in it, then I would say it is your booster. If you have a Mighty-Vac or other similar hand-held vacuum pump with gauge, you can check to see if the booster will hold vacuum. Also check the check valve where the vacuum hose enters the booster. It will pull right out. Make sure it doesn't just jiggle around, but the BB can be pushed in and then spring back out.

    and no booster for me....
I found a somewhat local place to rebuild it for me, so it will take a few days, but is being done right. Hope this fixes my problem!

    Thanks again

  5. Carky,

I have a whole Wildcat parts car sitting in my yard, but most of the parts on it are called for. I need a window frame as well. :ball:

I have a lot of red interior trim I could part with, but they are all four door hardtop specific.

  6. Carky,

How did the repair go? Are you all fixed? :beer
