Can anybody give me some tips or advice on how to properly reinstall the brake reaction rod with new bushing?

The new bushing is a single piece design thats longer on one end that the other think egg shaped.

    Its on a 65 lesabre.

Do I have the wrong bushing? I don't have enough room to start the nut with the washer.

I have a correct GM bushing/insulator and metal washer kit that goes on the front of the rod.....

Bump, so I bought the other style bushings and I still can't get it to line up.

The holes on the lower control arm won't line up with corresponding holes on the reaction rod when I have the front bushings in place.

The service manual calls for frame bushing on first then to line up the holes on the lower control arm. Tighten those up first then the sway bar and last the front but where the bushings at.

Is it possible that my lower control arms have shifted forward causing them not to line up with the rod?

I tightened up the bushings to line up the holes and I still came up short.

The holes will line up if I remove the back bushing seen in the pic. Should I pry the control arm back?

Put a ratchet strap on the lower control arm and pull it back and then the bolt holes will line up....don't remove that back bushing or the steering geometry will be off...

Gotcha, is this normal procedure? Did my lower control arms shift forward upon removing the rod?

Probably did shift forward on the outer end.....wear in the bushing at the frame and the spring pushing down can do that..

I have been selling the ploy bushings now for more than 10yrs. I modify the rear bushing for more positive caster adjustment. You want as MUCH positive caster adjustment than you can normally get. DO NOT go with the original alignment specs.
