So what are the pros/cons to using ported heads vs standard stock? I have a set of 70 Stage1 heads that I have not installed yet but they are not ported. Thanks. Stock 70 intake will be used with either stock manifolds or TA headers.

I don't know what the flow numbers of stk unported heads are, but I would guess here, and it's just honest reasonable guess, but over stk heads I would bet these heads are worth 50hp. I would call that a big pro.

As far as con, I really cant see one. If I had to stretch here, since these heads will still have power and airflow to gain over the stk cam, to be able to get all the power potential from them, addition parts like cam, intake, carb would be needed. But with that investment also more power. But these additional parts are not required and the stk cam intake and carb and exhaust can be used.

I don't know what condition your heads are in now, if they are ready to run or need gone through? If they need gone through, not sure what that total cost would be, but to get ported heads might not be much over getting stk heads done

The heads I have are ready to bolt other than painting them. I can't move on your set as I am overseas anyway and won't be back till next month some time.

Chris these heads are in the same form. They are totally assembled, fresh valve job, brand new never run stainless valves, springs, retainers, and locks are used, but the shop both seat and open pressures, and checked the springs overy for any signs of cracks or issues. Heads even have a light base coat of prime on them.

So they just need you prefered paint color and bolted on.

After talking to Patrick yesterday I want to add that on the exhaust bolt holes there were a couple of broken bolts that were professionally repaired at the time of the port work. My headers lines up perfectly with the thread repairs and we never had an issue with them. I'm sure that's why it never crossed my mind till I looked back at them yesterday, but I want to fully upfront of the exact condition on every aspect of the heads condition up front.

The heads weigh 62 pounds each bolted to a piece of plywood, and I have boxes that are 24x9x9 if I recall correctly. This will help anyone get a rough idea of what shipping will be by their prefered carrier. I quoted from here in ohio to mass yesterday and included 750 insurance on each box, it was 57 each through fed ex.
