This weekend myself and some buddies went to the nearest drag strip(Drag way 42) to watch some racing it was only test and tune so there were alot of cars there was one in particular that was cool it was like a 70 electra 225 with a 455 in it it was kinda beat up and was in primer but it ran great. The first run he made he ran 12.89 @ about 107 then the second time he ran 12.79 @ 110. I saw the car last year there and knew it as quick but my buddies didn't. I bet my one buddy who is a ford guy 5 bucks that it would waste the mustang he was running and made 5 bucks. The others are pretty hardcore chevy guys and they made the coment that buicks aren't supposd to run that way. It was cool he was only running like an 8 inch slick and never turned a tire. He also was running power windows and a full interior. Its cool to see something that big move that quick. My buddies got a quick lesson in buick power.

    gotbuick What, me worry?

    Neat story Adam!

I remember years ago one of the musclecar mags did a story on a couple of New York guys building an Electra. They had it running in the 12's, even though it looked ratty. They would cruise around the street racing scene, beating everyone and making cash along the way. Yes, it was Buick powered!

I'll be at 42 tonight hopefully. I'm hoping to pop a high 11. Maybe I'll see you.

I think the article you are refering to was in "Cars Illustrated". If so that was Scotty Guadagno's car.1970 Electra 2 dr. I remember seeing that car beat a full race '66 or '67 chevy II nova at Englishtown raceway park. That car ran deep into the 11's on nitrous.:TU:

Sure would like to have a copy of that article for the "Wall of Fame"! On the BCA website a couple of years ago a fellow was posting some details about a very highly modified Electra he was building anybody happen to know of him? I'm talking big money custom made stuff he was putting together.:Do No: :TU:
