One of my BEST friends is doing a frame off restoration on his 70 GS, with drivetrain build & instullation, interior & wireing being performed by John Osborne. He is my only friend that I exchange gifts with. I was considering floormats, then i've thought of a car cover. I know he'll be needing a '70 drivers door rearview mirror (his is pitted and I don't think he'll try to rechrome) and i've had other thoughts as well. I can't afford to spend a lot, I may go $100.00 but that's my limit. Any suggestions??? Ronnie
Fire Extinguisher (s) A small, relatively inexpensive item that is frequently overlooked and hopefully would never ever need to be used. I have them in all my vehicles (as well as in my house and garage) out of the boxes, guages checked frequently and ready to rock. A box of emergency triangles?
if you know enough about his car, get a repro window sticker, an original owners manual (if he doesnt already have one), some original sales lit, and some old magazines where his model of car was tested.
start a brand new thread under "the bench" and title it "who on the board makes reproduction window stickers?" and i bet you will have the answer to it in less than an hour. the sales lit can frequently be found on ebay or maybe at http://oldbuickparts.com/ or you might make a post asking where to find original saler literature. same for the magazine articles. does your friend have the actual GM repair or assembly manuals for his year of car? they are on ebay alot. if you have a pic of what his car will look like and a good pic of him, you could even have a silly shirt airbrushed with a cartoonish image of him stickin through the roof rippin gears or something.
