:dollar: So I went to the store to pick some extra ice. My brother in law had not been the '71 GS convert since I had finished it (400 hp 350, tubular suspension, 2004R, etc), so we took it. Along the way, I say little ricer-esque car ahed in the distance. I thought it was a little supra the lives down the street from me. As we got closer, I realized it was Magnum PI in his 308 GTS:dollar: . It sounded good, they had the targa top off. I pop it in neutral and rev it as I pass come along side them. Light ahead turns yellow. No one else in sight. I am thinkin- this is what I have been waiting for. :Brow: :spank: We get to the light, and i drop it to first, load up the rear tires and bump it a little. I am making it obvious I am ready to go. green light:3gears: I put the hammer down and I am gone. I have not had it to the track yet, but I am capable of triple digits going into third. I never even shifted to third. didn't have to. the guy was still in the middle of intersection:spank: . Guess he couldn't handle getting spanked. I drove as slow as I could, he didn't pass me for 3 miles, I when I turned into the ice dispensor parking lot. :blast:Ferrari. By the way, I in no way condone street racing...........
Wow, a small block taking a ferrari! Nice, What are you running for setup exactly? Cam, gears, what kind of head work? I'm building a 69 GS with a 350 and I dought i'll be able to squeeze 400 hp out of mine but It's cool to hear of such a kill. I don't want to get pushed around by quick imports and 5Ler's, I figure about 350-360 hp and 420 tq should get me to that point. Ryan
Jim Burek built the motor. He did some pretty serious port work on the heads. that is where all the power comes from. I stuck with stock valves because I was doing it for a magazine story and I wanted to compare apples to apples. stock flow versus ported flow with the same valves. Had I switched to larger valves, I would have been looking at closer to 450hp. :spank: I am running Poston's biggest cam (#112 I think), S-divider intake, 10.5:1 hypereutectic pistons, BG street demon 850 carb, and an MSD distributor. 396 hp, 414 ft lbs was the actual dyno numbers. currently, I have 3.42 rear gears and 27" rear tires, but I have a set of 4.11s and then my 20" wheels will go back on. those wheels have 30.5" tall tires out back.
Thats awesome. I really hope that the guy i'm being recomended too for head porting can work some magic on these heads, I'd love to see a true 360-370 hp without insane compression or insane cam.
