I know this topic has been up before but I could not find it. I need to know if anyone knows where I can buy buick red high temp engine pain in a pint or quart can that can be brushed on. Thanks Jim
If your looking to paint an engine ,you could have regular car enamel paint mixed at an autobody paint store.
I am pretty sure Cars Inc. the Buick resto supplier out of New Jersey sells it in quarts. Also try Bill Hirsch they advertize in Hemmings and have a web site I think. They can make anything and I have heard good things about their paint.
I researched this very topic a while back by using the search feature of this and other Buick related forums, going by what I dug up Duplicolor DH 1608 is the most used and accepted hue for our engines.Others mentioned were Ford Red,Massey Red and another that I can't recall the name but people complained of the light coverage.Get the DH 1608 at NAPA,it's a high heat paint to boot :TU: . ou: Ooops I now realized that you're looking for brush on paint, don't know about that.If it is just for detailing a small area you can always spray some in the cap and use a small paintbrush or some of dabber. o No:
Contact vin1489 on this board. He just told me the other day he ordered 1 can and the sent him 2. I an sure he will hook you up.
Duplicolor #DH1608 high temp engine paint is the match for Buick. You can get it at Autozone, Napa, just about anywhere.
I bought several spray cans of Buick red from Cars a few years ago and it was also a salmon pink? I thouhgt maybe it was just a bad batch as I bought from them before this and it was OK. I did have some old NAPA buick red #7956 but I think it is discontinued. It was a perfect match. I now have several cans of Krylon which I hope is the right color. By the way I was stuck after building my engine and had to cover that horrible pink so I used Dupli color red brake caliper paint and it was close!
