Woo hoo Heres an old shot of the 72 when it still had the 350 in it. HMMM? Having a little problem getting the pic to work. I'll try again on another day.
hey, AZ-69 skylark, thanks for those measurements that you made of the engine bay for me a while back.... i found that i couldn't really visualize it well enough though, so i bought this one for $500 on ebay... now it's just in finding the time to mock stuff up ou: wes
Happy to have helped. $500? That sounds like a steal. The body seems straight and has only a little surface rust on it. Even better is the fact that it runs. Congrats on your score. I'm thinking we may see the growth in popularity of the 4 door muscle cars. They'll be more affordable, easier to get in and out of, be able to perform like the 2 door versions, and probably cost less to insure.
I paid $500 for my car too and it has brand new brakes all around! I get a lot of comliments on my 4 door and it has really grown on me, enough that I plan to do a frame of resto!!
not only that, but you can have passengers in the rear seat and they'll be able to get in and out easily if you have a cage :Brow: yeah i remember reading an article in some magazine about how affordable and un-expected 4-door sleepers are.. the points the article made stuck with me and now i have this one.... (i think it was a hemmings muscle machines article or editorial) the rear quarters need to be replaced... but i'm contemplating keeping them the way they are for the sleeper vibe.. ORRRR repair the quarters, repaint the car in original seamist green and arctic white top.. keep it completely stock looking... then when going out to ruin somebody's night, rub chocolate liberally on the lower quarters and other rust-prone places to make the appearance of rust and make it look like a total beater :TU: ...... rust that you can wash off :bglasses: :3gears: :spank: something to think about  wes
I posted this car in the Bench section under "for $100". It's a 71 Skylark 2 door post with 39,000 miles. It's amazing what 10 years sitting in front of a run down repair shop will do to a car. <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/gsjoe/71Greenpost6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> The bumper on this thing is very straight and it's the reason I bought the car. <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/gsjoe/71Greenpost4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> The passenger side is the good one. Not much rust and surpisingly straight. <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/gsjoe/71Greenpost3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a> Here's the ugly little motor. <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/gsjoe/71Greenpost9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
Sea Foam Sleeper 350/350 I kept the 2.73 gear but bought a 350 with a low 1st gear set and a 2800 stll converter. It really goes well off the line! Drives great.
Thanks Guys. No track time or driving time yet. Still have to finish asssembly... Hope to have it finished soon.:TU:
