hey guys just wanted some more info on the v6 block for use of my toyota project
3.8 runs cooler then the 4.1

4.1 runs hotter because the cyclinder walls are siameesed, therefor less coolant passage and no coolant between the cylinders...can u fix this problem?

3.8 has no lowend(maybe fixed with 4v intake/carb and cam)

4.1 has good lowend because of bigger bore?

3.8 has less ci, is there a way to get more cubes out of the 3.8 to equal ot exceed the 4.1

can u like use the 4.1 block, crank, pistions and everything else from a 3.8

    v6

you shouldnt have a problem with cooling(you might be thinking
small chevy 400 problems) many use the 4.1 for turbo engines and at 21
psi if it was going to overheat it would have. although if you are worried
    get an alum radiator.
it wont be cost effective(costly) to stroke a 3.8 and a 3.8 will overheat at
060 over so dont bore out to the max.
3.8 will have some lowend if tuned right but bump compression to 9 to 1
will help. fuel inject if you can ,throttle body would be easiest and cheapest
more cubes alway is better if you can get them
3.8 and 4.1 are the same on the outside so most parts will swap between
them. the only difference is piston size so those wont swap over.
but the rest can go in either engine or on either engine

aight...just every other auto forum says the 4.1 has siameesed cylinderwalls, just likethe chevy 400...and i know u guys said it was the same block as the 3.8 so i didnt know what to really believe
if the peeps over gnttype respond with the same comment as you i'll definatly be reassured
maybe all the normal guys just think chevy :Dou:
but doesthe 4.1 have siameesed cylinderwalls?

yes it does have siamese cylinder bores, I should know, I have one. Does it run hot... not any hotter than any other Buick V6. The only differences are the flexplates (which really only matters if its a FWD 4.1 or a RWD 4.1, don't ask me why they are different), pistons, rings, and headgaskets. Everything else is the same as an 78-85 motor. If you want to get zip out of it, up the compression to around 9.0, port the heads (or buy a set of Champion CNC Irons or GN1 Aluminums), add an Edlebrock intake, 650 carb, and some headers with a nice cam or upgrade to a roller from Comp or any of the TurboBuick Vendors.

Check out the B4Black section on www.turbobuick.com for more info on this.
