    Buickthday Cake:
Here are some photos of my recent Birthday cake. It's a carrot and walnut cake with creamcheese icing that unfortunately I had to share with other people. My cousin made it after researching 'what I was into'. She got the badge design and colours by going onto the internet and looking up my website. I thought it was an excellent gesture. Had to share it with you guys.

    Rallye Reel:
Today I received my first two Rallye wheels (I'm expecting 9) and while one was very nice and will be used, the other one had holes that where cracked and damaged beyond use. That's ok, I'm pretty happy though because I've put it to an excellent use already...

    GS (style) Walnut...
...steering wheel that is. You may have seen these on eBay. I'm really happy with mine. It gives the interior an entirely new look and I love holding it. The warmth of real timber adds to (and changes) the experience.

    Bill,

    Nice wheel! :TU:

Every time I see a picture of a RHD dash I get sensory overload imagining what it would be like driving from that side of the car.

  6. How did they handle the throttle linkage, shift linkage, and brake booster on the RHD conversion? I would be interested in how they did all that.

George, it's actually Kolokithopita. I knew you'd spot it.

    Joe, that's a good question.

The power booster remains in it's original location. I have a linkage that travels under the dash and pushes the booster through the original linkage on the left hand side. The passenger can actually apply the brakes if they know where to push in the right spot.

The gear shift linkage travels from the right hand side along the firewall - (inside the engine bay - behind the engine) and (in the end) operates the original linkage that travels down to the gearbox.

The steering is slightly more of a hassle. In this case the (a)steering box has actually been bolted to the right hand chassis rail in a true mirror image of the original (not sure what steering box they used - must find out). Then the steering operates in the normal fashion with a customised drag link that has to be made up from the original drag link cut up into small little pieces and welded back together (tell me about it) in a mirror image. In fact I need a new one because mine is shot and I have no idea how to go about making a new one.

Accelerator brake and clutch pedals are still in their correct order. The biggest hassle is cutting up the dashboard into a million little pieces and welding it all back together again in a mirror image. It was difficult back in the day of metal dashboards but can you imagine what it would be like trying to convert a new corvette dashboard or a Viper? Sometimes conversions can go as high as 20-30 G's but it's only money and besides...wouldn't you rather drive a Buick?

The problem is that you guys don't get to see many vehicles with right hand drive. The odd British or Australian film but I say that would be rare. Here in Australia we are inundated with American TV shows and dramas where we see left hand drive vehicles every day. We keep left, you guys keep right.

I can go and take some pics if you like.

very nice, bill. sorry about the bum wheel. when i found out they didn't fit the smaller bolt pattern, i didn't inspect them much farther. guess i should of. but you made a good use of the wheel. probably the only one in all the southern hemisphere!:bglasses: once again, i apologize:( . rob

No need to apologise at all Rob. As you can see I made good use of everything you sent me. I'm almost glad I had a useless spare so I could use for a hose reel. It's unique and probably the only one in the southern hemisphere - at least. Has anyone else ever used (or seen) a hose reel using a rallye wheel?
