Wayne, you are correct about the crank I'd be buying. The reason I say "save me from having my Moldex crank cut down" is because the mopar size crank is MUCH cheaper than the $3000 the Moldex costs. In my mind it's better to sell it and buy the right size. Gary, HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!! Nice try!!
Go to the PAE site and go to the engine block page and see pictures of some of the patterns and molds for the block. We should have pictures of the actual block in the next day or so. Jim Burek
The block will be going through sonic testing, x-raying and burnelling today, then begin the machining process. The tests will verify integrity and wall thicknesses throughout. Just another step in the process. Jim Burek
most excellent! i haven't the monies to buy one of these for myself ... but if i did, whoooo boy. i'll be watching you boys next year. :beer
4------------7 I know as far as a roller cam. I can have a cam ground to a 4--7 swap. I know this would be a great help for my buick engine or for any buick engine. But I have no need for roller cam for my engine. I believe it would be a great improvment and is anyone selling a basic 4--7 cam. And why aren't any of you guys using them? This firing order has been used since 85 in NASCAR. It relieves stress om 2 and 4 mains and generates a smother tourque curve through the crank. Looking for a cam of this sort for a 11 sec combo. Drivable! :3gears:
Hey Alan, what happened to the "gang". I figured you had help. Or are they in a rest home ahead of you? It will be a good feeling that not having to worry about juicing the guts out of the block like the current gernade I'm running. :TU:[/QUOTE] The gang is all here but I have my own car now to finish and the family plan has the budget set low on the HP scale. I may never even make enough HP to need even a girdled stock block. My car will be a light bracket car. No need for HP that I can't afford, got enough debt already. :ball:
weight this may have been answered already on here but i couldnt find it. How much more does this block weigh compared to a stock 455 short block. o No:
Stock block, halo main and lifter girdle full fill (no water) bout as heavy as they can get , 241 lbs . The raw casting block before machining comes in at right around 300 pounds. After machining , the expected weight of the block should be in the 250 to 260 range.
SO , now that some of you guys have had a chance to touchy feely the new block, what do you think? DOes Dick Bradshaw know how to cook? DO you think this undertaking was worthwhile? Worth the wait? Give me your input here. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
Cooking I know one thing Danie can cook some desert. In fact I'm eating a left over piece as I type :TU: :Brow: . When you come to norwalk if you wanted to bring some along that would be great
I just lurk here most of the time, but the guys on Moparts are going through the same types of anxiety trips waiting for the Bulldog products. Bulldog only makes heads for the mopar BB/RB but things have taken qiute a bit longer than expected, then they had a few heads with a core shift problem. Don't get me wrong... I'm greatful that someone else has stepped up to the plate and gave us another choice for cyl. heads, but I don' want to be the guinea pig either. This is not a bash against Mr Bradshaw or any of his products just check out the Caddy stuff....Just be patient
I thought it looked really beefy. Of course, I don't build 'em.....I just drive the hell outta them!
This thing does look beefy and it should hold, but until there is one running there is going to be doubt or questions. I'm not wrong in saying this. You would think with all the supporters that are out there for this block, and all the issues it has caused, there would be more than only 6 blocks ordered. So, this would go to prove that Rod and I are not the only ones that were weary of this block. Not looking forward to being a guinea pig in any way, but there is no other option out there. Beefy or not its got to be right to work. To know that there has to be one running. The strength we need is defiantly there. So at this point only one foot is on this bandwagon right now.
yep, that's what Dick said Saturday. If we count all the ones that said they would buy when done I think he said we come up to 10 or 12.
I'm pretty sure thats wrong I know of 4 including myself. From what I understand with conversations with Jim B there is over 25 sold.May be there is only 6 completely paid for Mine is paid for so I don't know whats up.Bradshaw was on the realoldspower talking about 40-50 blocks being made on the first run.Goef ketchum is involved with this whole ordeal maybe he ordered 6.
