Bumper Straightening

I want to re-chrome my bumpers, my rear is a straight core, but my front has a problem it seems is common with 70-72 gs's, pushed up in the middle.

    Questions:

    1) Has anyone with the same problem had their front bumper successfully straightened?

    2) Who, how much, etc.?

    3) My rear has a rough, sandpaper like finish in one spot, will a rechromer be able to smooth this area off prior to the re-chrome? Like I said, the rest of the bumper is super straight.

    Thanks for the help.

I will also be searching the archives for help, but any help or experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

I have had several done by them with excellent results. Cheap (as far as rechroming goes about $310 each) fast and great quality. If they can not do it right they won't do it at all. They offer a life time warranty. I thought I needed new cores because they were so bad (bent and rusty) but they made them look better than new. The backs of the bumpers looked almost as good as the front.

I used Midwest Bumper in grand Rapids Michigan. I "pretended" to be a restoration business:Brow: and got a really good price (like two for one based on the original telephone quote).

I am convinced that these guys can fix almost anything and they claimed that you could bring the parts back as many times as necessary - they would keep at it until they get it right.

The only thing that I had to do after the parts cam back was to coat the inside/back with silver POR 15. The rechroming doesn't do much for the back side of the bumper and they will start to rust again immediately on the back.

Thanks men, will get on the phone and run them both down. I've been taken enough times that I was afraid to even send them out to anyone. The recommendations mean alot.

Mike and David, did tricity have to straighten your bumpers as well as rechrome them?

Robert, the bumpers had some dings (from the factory jack) and the front had a slight tweak on the end they did fix and straighten before rechroming. The last set of bumpers were so rusted that I tried to get some good cores because I did not think they could fix them (saved some money by not finding any). They came out just as good as the others and they sanded\ground the back and rechromed it too.
